Do you think would a head-lock help something?
I'm using the same fork. I think 10-11 month is not a bad lifetime.

I think 10-11 month is not a bad lifetime.
I said it because my Urban fork cracked at the disc mount after 4 month, and the neck of my Aprebic fork broke after 9 month.
My strongest fork is a Cannondale Pepperoni but unfortunately it doesn't have a disc mount.
The neck of the Echo/Zoo forks is thick but I think it should be from a stronger material.
i must change my hifi fork to some with steel steerer tube...

why are people suprised when aluminum steerer tubes break? it should be expected.
It should be expected that any for or bike part will break!
The problems with steel steerers are that your alloy legs will break, thats what happened to me when I had a steel steerer, also its hard to bond the alloy and steel together at the crown

A headlock would prevent the 2 halves from fully separating. There a fancy/expensive way to do the same job of a simple starnut.
what about a full steel fork? :dunno:
They are the worst!
I have one now and it bent on the first ride under wheelswitches! Everytime I try a hook I have to run into a wall 2-3 times to bend them back. Bikeshops will tell you steel is stronger and it wont crack from over stressing like alloy, they are right, it just bends instead. Same with cro-mo too. I have had cro-mo and steel and they both did the same, best forks I've had are alloy, by far.

My echo urban has lasted 2 years.
Good, but it also depends how you ride, agressive or smooth:ugh2:

And whether or not you do any front moves.

I did a lot of front moves, but i think i isnt a main reason why fork is broken, i think its broken thanks to pedal ups(111 cm) very much and sidehops to rear wheel,gaps...

I think it's more likely to be due to the fact that the steerer looks fucked towards the top. All that blackness on the top inch of the steerer is all weakness if it's not just dirty grease. I'd imagine there's a fair bit of 'pitting' there or at least that the surface isn't smooth as it was when new.

Well everything will break eventually, and just because he's seen more of one break than the other doesn't mean the forks have been abused the same and that he has seen them in equal numbers.
I was also refering to the superlight, not the kniffen lite, don't know enough about it (think it's out of production) However, i also thought we were talking pure (26in fork) so that makes my post somewhat irrelevant anyway.
I need facts not feelings or experiences. Fact is CroMo has a higher strength to weight ratio than alu does unless Deng is using 7075 T6 alloy alu.
end of thread now? :momaru:
