Just got the new echo control in the mail today. First ride was awesome, way better geometry than the old brisa. Kinda on the heavy side but it is built to last.

nice man!
I get scared seeing lots of bikes getting posted up, that don't have ground rims..

It's still touching the box. I think that makes it okay. I finally got around to grinding mine. I still suck, but my rims look nice and my breaks work great. They will work better when I make a booster.
Sweet looking ride.

ground rims are over rated. well not so much that but there is no way im taking a grinder to a brand new bike, just cant do it. Ill stick to the belt dressing for the time being and good pads.

Ground rims vs. non ground rims...In my opinion are like night and day! I will never ride without a ground rim ever again.
Ground rims... like my friends old school, heavy Italian grandmother would say..."tttttrrrrrrryyyyy it you'll lllllliiiiikkkkkeee it."

ya and it doesnt chew up ur pads hardcore, and weaken your rims. Ive ridden a ground rim before and didnt really feel much difference. meh, im happy with it now.

I personally despise grinds. Ever since putting a grind on, my brake went to complete shit. My grind wore out, and I put the harshest motherfucking grind I possibly could on, and my brake got worse... Needless to say I will never grind again.

the best brake is when the grind is almost wore out. Though if it's not raining there's no need for a grind, when bought brand new anodised rim. I got mine Echo '07 w/o grind, with coust pads and tar and it's the best brake EVER, I guess that it just impossible for brake to hold stronger than that as it just imposible to slip.

Please keep us updated on how the horizontal dropouts work on a 26" frame!
For example how often you have to adjust chain tension.

x2...
Also,
I think grind vs no grind is just another rider preferrance like v's vs maggies. I ride a grind but didn't notice a huge difference the first time I did it but there was some difference, enough of one that I still grind my rims. As far as weakening rims by grinding them...unless you grind too much that isn't an issue.

I can tell you after riding that bike it certainly rides as nice as it looks. I'm the one that has clowded his mind towards grinding since I haven't had too much good luck with it. I personally think the plaz crm's w/ a non-ground rim is pretty damn nice, as long as you stay away from water.

so far (2 rides) ive only tightened the chain once. the cranks are echo. Its all on webcyclery how it is built up, except w/ a hope mono disk in the front, and an fsa pig headset.

Thats a nice bike man! Have fun with it.
About the whole grinding argument. You guys have to realize the brakes must be set up properly in order for them to work. I dont know what the issue with burning out pads. But I oscillate my brakes constantly for manuals and sorts of moves.
I can get an entire season out of a new set of plazmatic crms. And this is using the roughest fucken grind you can get out of an 8" grinder.
Use a booster, set the pads up square to the rim. No air in the system. Should be tits you know? I know people have their preference. This is me just pushing some bs.
