Okay, i was looking around for a used king hub because i'm sick of looking around for cheap shit hubs that suck

Theres this hub for sale without an axle, but i'm wondering if i can buy that, since a replacement axle isn't that expensive. But, what do i have to look out for? To prevent a scenario where by i buy something that cannot be used.

make sure the only thing missing is the axle.

chances are, if the axle is missing or gone because it got damaged then there's other missing parts or other damaged parts. can you get a look at this in person or this an internet buy kinda thing?

I disagree with Trialsrider 50. Just because the axle broke doesn't mean the rest of the hub did. The normal axles tend to break under trials forces, and then get replaced with an HD axle. I can't see much else getting hurt from a broken axle, but that's just me. Obviously if you get to see it in person, do a thorough check over; bring a picture of the break down of a King hub (you can get it on their site) and make sure everything is there/looks good.

I concur, and also
The important part is knowing what axle to replace it with. The old axle had a number in a diamond on it's driveside, youll want to replace with an axle that has the same number.
Ive had three kings and theyve all been #3.

Check that the bearings on which the axle rests are smooth. Otherwise I think it is pretty hard to check it. You can look at the ring drive mechanism to make sure that the teeth are in good shape. (requires are special tool)

Thanks for the help guys. I'm viewing the hub somewhere this week, probably tomorrow, and if everything is in order, i'll probably take it.

But i wonder, would it be good to deal at my lbs instead, this way, he can do the checking for me.

My axle stripped itself out.
I wonder IF dan got that sucker back yet.
