I saw the pic of the bike in the west coast section of our forums, and I'm going to strip the two different types of shit paint on my frame down to metal and polish it up with sandpaper and metal polish. Is there any clearcoat in spray can form at like a local hardware store? Or can only the manufacturer do clearcoating. I want something to protect the shine.

I used tremclad for mine.. 4 bucks a can, did the trick .. works on all finishes..just make sure you get "gloss" and not "satin"

after you clearcoat you can get Rubbing Compound which is sorta like wetsanding and polish/wax mixed.. makes for good gloss

You might try rubbing compund for the final polishing if you want it bright.
