I am currently programming a trial game (it will probably be 3d later)

http://www.zshare.net/download/dsfdfsdf-rar-h0z.html

I'm far from done and there is a lot of things to do

-no brakes for now
- the bike spins too fast
- jump isn't done yet (if you press spacebar more than a second the bike will
fly)
- when you tap a non vertical wall, (with spacebar at the same time as you tap) the bikes kinda explode or jump a lot too high

i'll make better graphics when i'm gonna be finished with programming

How to use
Map Editor
click to position the block ( there's a block at the begining, thats about where the bike fall )

arrows to scale them

mouse wheel to ajust the angle of the blocks

dont use too much blocks, else it will fail to save ( for now)

The game

1. CLick on load map
2. Type the name of the map by example : testt ---- dont write testt.fizz, else it wont work

3. FIRST! press one to make a vracing appear ( dont click it twice or about 20 vracing will appear)

4. Enjoy

If you have ideas/coments/bugs for the game i would appreciate

Is this legit?

yes it works if that is what you mean...

I actually enjoyed it a lot! Well the part that is there. Definitely in its super early stage of development, but the bike looks nice.

I definitely see the potential in this game. The thing is, should it be 2D or 3D? I think 2D like elastomania would be much better. That way, the player can actually control being on his back wheel.

I propose that you make this game into a trials simulation. Meaning that you would try to make it as real as possible, and give the player as much control as possible. This includes different buttons to be toggled. For example, one button would turn on the bunnyhop feature. Thus the player would actually have to pull back, and push foward to make a bunny hop. Different buttons or combo of them, would perform different tasks. IE: pedals ups or staying on your back wheel. maybe some how put two sets of brakes on this bike (front and rear), and let the player use them both at different times? I mean, you are the designer, so you probably know more than I do.

^ check this game out. I like how you can position your rider into different positions on the motorcycle. Maybe something simillar could be set up for your game. Thus it would eliminate many "trick" buttons. This way you can do front wheel taps and such by pushing the rider foward, and then using the front brake. Just my ideas. The posibilities would be endless.

Anyways, this is going to be a crap load of work, but better in putting the work into making the game realistic than looking good. That way it will be truly unique.

the "steering" of it is horrible

this is a lot better i think:

Yeah, I was only showing an example. But you are definitely right, the game you found has much better "steering". Also a lot less suspension travel too, simillar to that of a trials bike, with no suspension.

Nice find!

i used to have the RedLynx "Trials Construction Yard" game - granted, some of the scenarios were completely unrideable, but it was a damn good laugh and actually played pretty well. the bikes were more detailed than the clipgame shown above and the backgrounds were scanned hand-drawn artwork. for a Java game, it kicked ass!

Anyone ever play motoracer3? There is a trials part to it, 3D, on indoor style sections. Really challenging to estimate depth and turning and braking. Pretty fun.

I did, and yes, it's fun, but it limited

As for having ''combo'' moves, i dont really like this idea, i prefer integrating all the move depending on the moment you press the spacebar

I tried other cool design for the controls (actually i'm at my 5th try for a trial game) . It was ski stunt simulator like, and there was a lot of possibilities. but it was not good

ill post the others later

I love these games. I have the Construction and Mountain versions. I just realized that the levels are only pics. There are two version.
1) The pretty picture that we see when riding.
2) A two color version that defines the riding surfaces.

I think I can copy and modify the original track files (2). Then modify the path for a new section. Then I just need to make a pic to show what to ride.

Yeah modding the levels is so easy. Just edit the black/green file as that's what you effectively ride along.
Then you can either copy the two-tone for what you see, or (this is harder, but not by much [clone tool etc]) edit the other image to fit.

When I did it I did them the other way round, ie. picture then two-tone, so I could get it looking all nice :P

Cool, glad to know this works. I tried searching google for any additional tracks people have modded. But I came up dry, so I will make my own.

Even thought this is moto, the game is a lot of fun. I think the physics and rider control is the best of any 2D bike game I have tried.

space to jump

"g" to pull the bike up
press the g button after pressing space (0.25 to 1 sec after)

arrows:

down: brake
up: pedal
left: weight left
right weight right

pedalups/bunny are doable

hooks too

taps are difficult to get the timing, but when you get it, it goes higher tahn pedalups

rolling gap doable

up to nose doable

weelswitch are doable

les pedalkicks dont work for now (its possible to do them, but...)

ok so what should i work now?

have you got some ideas to make the game better?

free_rideman

I don't know how to explain this, but could you make it a bit easier maybe, and have a much more smooth game play action? That way the player can put in some more of his/her style if wanted. Right now I feel like I can do things with certain key strokes only, so I have to focus on that more than actually doing something in a particular way.

This is hard to explain, so give me another chance at it if you don't understand.

removing the g button?

it was more fun without it, but i thought it would be like too repetitive and easy without it.

btw, for the last wall, you need to go fast... (taps also helps)

is it just me or does the bunnyhop only hop 1/8" on screen? pressing g doesnt do anything for me

anyway i think the first version u posted was much cooler. the jump was smoother and more realistic. but on the updated version the jump was a hugh unreal and wasnt any good for combinations. with the first versions type of jump its more possible to do some natural trials stuff like small jumping on rocks and shit. just add brakes to the first version.

ps the bike on first version was much smoother and better

yeah, i think the first version was way better. just add brakes to the first one, and a person.

for the future. i think it would be really cool if you made it so we can pick our bike. just make a couple mods and a couple stocks all with diff. wheel bases. =]]

this is the easy part...

all i want for now, is to make a game that is fun to play

then ill add skills that you can improve, different bike to chose, parts ect.

ok. but to make the game better just add brakes to the first one and maybe a couple other things. the update doesnt work right for me. the bike doesnt hop at all and the g button doesnt do anything.
