What is better? Yes I know sticky is good, And I will get something sticky, but I dont want my foot wraping around the pedal. Are there any dissadvantages to having a stiff shoe? Like the shimano? I come from a mountain bike background where stiff is good.

A softer shoe will "wrap" around the pedal better than a stiff shoe. A stiffer shoe will most likely slip off the pedal. Stiffer is good for SPD's but not platform pedals. I usually use Van's with the honecomb sole or I ride with the Monty Trials shoes.

any indoor soccer shoe is best.

Yeah, for indoor soccer :ugh2:
Go with some soft skate shoes or throw down for a pair of ribos.

It's personal preference. I just got a new pair of vans- they are stiffer than the previous shoe I had, and I like that better. I hear that the tryalls are pretty stiff as well? Get a shoe with decent grip and you shouldn't have to wrap.

im a big fan of the adidas gazell or something like that...its a black indoor soccar shoe. i love them so much. they flex a lot and let me really hold onto the pedal...and when need be the rock that im about to fall off of.

See my problem is, I get sharp pains in my feet If I ride flexy shoes.

I always try and find really stiff, thin soles. But its definitely personal preference as you can see.

Yeahh. I think I might try not riding with my orthodics. Given that they are super stiff plastic and end in the middle of my foot. Anyone tried the six six one shoes?

My new shoes suck ass for riding. They don't grip, and I can barely feel the pedal. Some random Hurley skate shoe.

I have some globe, something ahha ther old and not really used. The ones with no tounge. Anyway I was riding around with them and they seem to feel really good. Not too sure about the grip part. My foot accually got stuck on the pedal a few times. haha. but yeah, im gonna ride with those a little more and see how it goes.

>edit...

oh yeah, chet thomas something... k bye

I used dually's, the old ones were great once worn in except that the lace holes blew apart in 10 minutes so you had to punch and eyelet new holes. I'd still like another pair. But I find the new dually's have a very vague feeling sole, don't feel hooked up at all, and too much padding.

you should go out and bye a good durable leather shoe and take it to a shoe cobler(shoe repair). I worked in one for 3 years and thers a million different soles and combanations of thikness and durability you can choose frome. I would at least go talk to one and see what he can do for you.

I have a pair of AIRWALK/VAN'S knock off's from K-mart....all black really soft soles to wrap the pedals <---(yes this is helpful), and they cost me a whole $9.00...durability...so far so good!!

Has anyone tried Orchid BMX shoes? How are they?

I prefer skate shoes as well, I'm currently using running shoes (nike cortez) that seem to work fine. There is also a slight dependance on where you put your foot on the pedal as to whether or not the shoe 'wraps' the pedal. if you ride more on your toes the shoe obviously doesn't wrap as much as opposed to if you ride with your foot right in the center.

If you got the cash to throw down, the 5.10s are sick. They cost about 80 bucks tho. I only wear mine to ride, and the only reason I got them is cause I used to work at the shop, so I got a deal on them, otherwise I would have went cheaper.

Skater shoes or anything that's thin & has very good grips. Forget sneakers and cross trainers. They're horrible. I ride horrible without my Airwalk's now. Also I haven't really slipped off & hit my shins for a long time unless I'm being really stupid.

http://www.fiveten.com/. click on freeride.

this is what i have- http://www.zappos.com/images/774/7142774/1733-92701-t.jpg. 38$ with shipping. no longer avalible though. id suggest getting some skater shoes that are tighter fitting though. most skater shoes aren't tight enough and always feel like they are going to fall off

five-tens are about 34320x better than any gay skate shoe or indoor soccer shoe or anything else.

I agree, I'm not going back. Stealth rubber is like slow Reezay for your feet.

personal preference, the only thing i'd look at is if you're like me with vees crm's and what not, that you get a narrower skate shoe.
