but what is the difference between universal standard and iso disc mounts? Is this just a Chris King thing?
Specifically, what kind of mounts does an Echo Urban fork have and would it work with a Hope Trials disc?

Yes, it will fit.
Echo forks have an international standard disc mount.

If you have an urban fork and a ISO king, everything will work perfectly.
I think there are the normal mounts, and this:

But as far as i know this kind of mounts are only on manitou forks.

yeah and they suck because if you strip it, you are ffffffffffffffffffffd
The King Universal hub uses interchangable rotor-to-hub mounts, so you can run any kind of rotor bolt pattern, you just need the appropriate adaptor. ISO uses the standard 6 bolt pattern found on virtually every disc setup today.

yeah, the iso or universal has nothing to do with the caliper mounting. just the disc mount to the hub. the picture about shows what hayes and many brakes companies used and still use for brake mounting. benefit is you don't need shims but they can also be harder to get perfectly straight and keep that way.

There is ISO(standard, this is what 80% of them are) then post mount(the one in the picture above, manitou has utilized this for a while, this year marzocchi and RS are getting in on this too.)

ISO and Universal is the same thing. ISO, I think stands for: International Standards Organization.
The other type is called "Post Mount" or also I think, "shimano mount".
Definitely a bad idea those Post Mounts.

Universal hub was their first disc hub. It was at the time when almost each disc brake manufacturer had their own hole pattern for discs. Now everything is iso. No need for universal hub anymore.
