Hi, I'm pretty new to trials biking. I've been riding a specialized p1 around campus for a year or so, and just recently started to try some trials stuff with it. It's an ok bike, very fun to ride around school; but I feel it's kind of limited with trials (heavy, very low pedal clearance, high gear). I'm looking to get a used trials bike, my budget is probably hovering around 500 bucks. I was wondering if I should get a mod bike (they look super fun and flickable :)) or a full size bike. Which type is easier to learn on?

A full size bike (stock bike) might suit you better because it will be similar to what you ride now, in terms of size. I've never ridden a mod so I can't really say, but if you are a bigger guy (like me, I'm 6'4") then a stock will probably work for you. There's a bunch of good deals in the For Sale section, right around or just above your price range. How tall are you?

It is entirely personal preference. I hate mod. They feel like shit. Ride a bunch of different stuff first if you can.

OI! I ride mod and I love them, hehe.
Its true, some people prefer certain makes/bikes and others prefer different ones.

A mod is probobly going to be easier to learn on. I came from a specialized P.3 myself. I am 6'4'' and I got a simtra ST-1 (stock) because of my height. If at all possible, try riding some different bikes and see what you like best. But again a mod is going to probobly be easier to learn on, lighter, easier to move around. I havent ridden one before so i cant say too much about it.

Personally I liked the Simtra because the BB wasnt too high (+20mm) and a good size wheelbase at 1080. Strong and I can run a rear disc. I have been riding for about a week or 2 now and I can hop about 3 times on my rear wheel. Cant stay on it though.
