He kept the full moto kit on for the bike comp because during some part of the moto comp his foot peg broke off in a section and screwed up his ankle / foot area. His boots kept his swelling in control and allowed him to continue to ride. I don't have a good reason for the helmet but I'm sure it wasn't to control head swelling. That guy was pretty hardcore.

Completely stupid question: what class is that in the video? I don't watch much competition footage so all i really know is what elite sections look like. Regardless, it looks fun as hell.

Mike, we had 25 riders at the Dixie Cup, the moto clan is hip on the biketrials being run again next year, 2007.
