I was also looking at this one, however i have a feeling the reserve price is 300. Why is 300 too much to pay?

Looks to me like those maguras are both HS-22 on the second bike and HS-22 on the rear of the first one. If so those won't give the same power as the later HS-33. You can see the lever difference on the first GT, it has an HS-33 front. I could be wrong about that, didn't magura for a year or so make the old dogleg lever with a 13mm master cyclinder instead of the 14mm? Anyone?
Maybe check with the seller what exact model of magura they are. If they're HS22, I'd pass.

Well where else would i find a good begginer bike for 300?

Patience man, something good will show up here or on ebay. While you wait keep saving your cash. Check local shops too, especially if anyone near you sells trials bikes. They'll almost always have a line on some used. If anyone rides trials around your area ask them about bikes / dealers / etc. These also might be the same people to help you with your first grind / tar / bleed / get some good brake pads.

Other alternative, get the first one for $200, and be prepared to replace the master cyclinder if the brake doesn't lock 100% reliable after pads / tar / grind.
And whatever bike you buy, if it has maguras see if the seller will throw in a bleed kit if they have one! If they're getting out of the sport they might see no use for it.

Well whats bad about the bike other than the brakes? I can get new brakes.

Nothin wrong per se for a beginner with that budget. Looks like it has a braided crossover line, good rubber, etc. No booster on the back, I'd try to budget for one of those too. So I just wouldn't be jumping in with a $300 bid, cause if you need to replace the m/c that's gonna set you back, and you'll need a bleed.
From what I remember of a set of HS-22s, they're not so good. Terrible lockup, personally I hated the levers, couldn't get a single finger to hook on them properly. So I just see that on the back as a considerable downside.

The second bike does have a booster.

Two crappy brakes on it, and the price is already $250. Boosters are cheap, easy to install, readily available, so I'd say bike number 1 is more likely to be a better deal. Who knows what happens in 4 days though.

05 and 06 maggies go for pretty cheap on ebay, i could put new ones on if the current ones prove to be bad. I should atleast be able to learn on them though right?
Just curious, do you ride a unicycle?

Well, if the brakes don't lock 100% reliably you'll learn not to trust them, which isn't a good thing. Nothing wrong with the bikes themselves. But I'm not such a fan of the new maggies either, to my mind the best maggies were from 2002 - 2004. I just had bad luck with the 2005 model. What's your situation? Do you feel confident that you yourself can sort the brakes out? Or do you know some other riders that can help? Any experienced rider will, with at most pads, bleed, and grind, be able to sort those brakes good enough for a beginner, unless they leak. So I'd at least ask the sellers if they leak. Maybe someone else needs to jump in here so you can get a different viewpoint. Plus the rain is slowing down here so I can grind and ride. Good luck, whatever you decide.

Do you get tired quickly?

High hops can be tricky. A lot of begginers have problems with getting tired really fast, But over time it goes away.

Is this the brisa you talked about? How much would be a good price to bid on this for?

rush=god :). id go for something like the brisa. i really wish i had disk up front. the back brake on it will need some help though(probably better than mine though haha). you said you wanted to spend between 300-400 so go up to 400 on it? it probably will go for like 500$ i think....? just so you know i got my monty x-lite (yr=2000ish?) for 300 with shipping except it was missing a chunk of front rim (rode with that for a while), had a blown mc (seller didnt know i think...dan?) front tire was getting slick. so i spent an extra 50$ to get it working. and was ridden hard by first owner... you got to wait for what you think is a deal
edit:and i think unicycles is fairly cool but i prefer 2 wheels

I've heard bad things about brisa forks, nothing bad about their frames. The 98 GT frame has more of a bmx geometry, your better looking at a brisa or a cheap monty, the x-alp and magura are pretty affordable, may need new brakes on the x-alp, but at least the geometry is the same as the x-lite. v-brakes are better than hs-22 levers. My hs-22 locked up fine with some tar and a grind, but with a little more modulation than I wanted.

Well it looks like im going to win this dt bike. Any thing to watch out for? Anything i shouldnt do on it? Some people are saying the brakes are bad, Can they be fixed or do they need replacment? Since it is kind of a begginers bike, how long do you think it will be untill i need some upgrades? And what upgrades would those be?

What do you guys think about the frame? Will it ever need replacing?
