thats A LOT friction....
it's only touching it in one place. wheel spins for ages.
i bought a fucking massive chain and there was no chance it would fit in any conventional derailer. didn't even fit in the one that i spaced out for my already-very-large bmx chain. nor did it fit in my chain tool :ugh:, had to file down shitloads of my bashring to get enough clearance :ugh2: and then i fell off because i was riding with the chain super loose and broke my hanger off :weak:
i just kinda saw an old drum sitting in the trash and knew exactly what i was going to make right then and there. the only thing that may go wrong with it is that pvc or whatever it's made from is fairly slippery... may twist around the axle and lose tension. fix = drill a hole in the very top part of it and tension some wire between it and the lone cable guide on the seatstay :dunno:

I've always enjoyed my ghettoneering experiments except when they backfire, like the xbox not working anymore (but it can be fixed) and a powersaw into my leg (which healed). I just have a tinkering personality and I love messing with things.

I really like this idea. Doesnt look like that big of a chain to not use one aready on the market, but this is good stuff all the same. What kind of drum? Pics?

Echo, I think (oldskool).
With more ghettoneering ala AgrAde stylee.
That is hilarious! I love lo-tech solutions. Now you just need to think up a stupid brand name, arrange for contract manufacture in China, and sit back and watch the $$$ come rolling in.;)

just like squareish plastic bottle/drum thing with a handle. cut the handle off with a lump on one end as per pic and cut down the side so the chain goes in. probably can't use any old bottle because they won't be square enough and the plastic isn't thick enough. i was lucky i guess - eyed it up, guessed that it would be fine, cut it out, bolted it on and rode away.
first gen echo rim FTW.
