Elastomania - Biketrials edition

From Chris Pitts (BMF Chris) comes this modified version of Elastomania to emulate biketrials. If you've grown too used to, or bored of the handling and movements of the original motorcycles, this version will be an interesting refresher.


Description from Chris:

Well, finally after 2 year prototyping and testing, its finally being released, the biketrials version of elastomaina. Yes yes, the game we all fell in love with years ago has been revamped by myself to imate a trials bicycle as close as i can get to real gravity. Having changed the gravity has effected the stableness of the game, meaning about 1 outa every 10 times you play, the game will randomly crash from overload. Sadly I couldnt get all the bugs out :(

In the background, youll notice it says "developed by Chris Pitts". Im not implying i developed the game, merely i put a new skin to make the motocycle look like a bicycle, and gave the rider a megamo skin suit in honor of my suit, as well as the custom COCKS bike with MAXXIS tires and dual hope snowflake brakes. Along side this ive changed gravity in the game, as well as how the bike behaves including suspension and flexness., meaning you can hook, jap-tap, nose gap and number of other bicycle moves.

The game insnt perfect, but fun none the less. There will be no trouble shooting for the game, just install the exe. file and go to town. btw, all the fun will be had in the extra levels others and myslef have created, and not in the normal levels of the game. I encourage making new levels and posting them for us to try.

You'll find yourself trying to do moves for hours using no bashguard and just testing the limits of the bike, it takes some getting used to, but well worth it in the end. Also, some of the extra levels arent meant to get to the end, they're just to dick around in. i hope you guys enjoy, i know i sure enjoy it......


Here's (http://romanr.observedtrials.net/ElastoManiaRegistered.rar) the rar file, 1.14 MB. It's the whole Elastomania folder which includes the new skins, levels, and modded physics. All you have to do is unrar it and run the Elma shortcut inside the folder as usual. You still keep your original Elastomania folder intact. Oh, all the trials levels are in the External Levels menu choice.

do you load an external map?
when you press play and it gives you a list of maps the very top one above the intro map says "external"...go to that one and select any of the maps in there. they come up saying riders names. if you see these you should be good to go.
the only way i have managed to get an internal error while playing now is to be rolling backwards (with a little bit of speed) and nudging a wall and pressing the brake hard...by doing this the bike stretches back really far then it says internal error. and one other time i went upside down onto a large triangle which caused me to stretch out really far, thus resulting in an internal error.

I got it to work with no problem. The controls are kinda wacky and really touchy though.

You would think that it would not be too difficult (for someone that knows what they are doing) to duplicate a game such as Matt hoffmans BMX type game or the downhill mountain bike game and just add in the elements of trials riding. I'm sure it's easier said than done.

I'm suprised that Playstation or some big company like that has not tried making a trials bike game.

yea, for the records, over spinning with cause an error, as will over stretching the bike, also yes, the external files are the ones you want to play, not the standard ones.......

What do you mean, "Unrar". I can't figure out how to put what file where to get it to work...

You'll need an application called WinRar or something similar to extract .rar files. It's a compressor like Winzip, with a different name.

- Save the .rar file I posted wherever you want
- Right click the file
- Choose "Extract to here". If the extract options don't come up when you right click, you're gonna have to download Winrar, www.download.com will have it for example.
- A folder will be created. Enter it, and double click on the Elma shortcut. Enjoy.

edit: still no good. anyone had this same problem and fixed it? same problem is that the game was working and now it doesnt.

I never got to play it. Any game that opens in full screen on my PC like this one or that redlynx trials construction yard switches my monitor off. So weird, I have no idea why it does it. :wtc:

It's kinda strange for me. I mean the physics.
I used to play elma with the normal version and a nitro version, just with other setups. Those were better i think.

I will find and upload them later.

btw, if you have nitro-ed elma, it will say "internal error" when you push the left or right button too many times.

haha i finally installed your version after seeing it around for ages and fuck me if my maps arn't there hehe i think the JJ marshy ceasar and ceasar1 are one i made like 5 years ago (notice the names JJ old school and marshy the older australians will get) where the hell did you find those man :). anyway if you keep it controlled it works well but the errors get frustrating.
