I think its pretty lame that the world champion is decided riding those sections. I'm not arguing that they aren't incredibly hard, but I'd like to see the trials world championships help at a trials venue. can't win em all i guess.

Sweet new US jerseys. Thanx for the pics!

Dave, yeah, I agree and I suspect that's what Kenny was getting at in that article that was translated and posted on here. It's unfortunate that the World Cup UCI Trials events are more trials-like than the World Championships.

mint, you were there? i have a shit-ton of higher res pictures i'll get around to posting in another thread.

i agree completely that the sections were inadequate, not just because of the difficulty. many of the sections were very rideable at the start of the round then dirt parts would just fall apart and change the section completely. there were a few dodgily placed markers that allowed riders to shortcut a couple of the sections, and some of the sections way too easy (the one built with the plywood on aluminium framework - almost all cleans).

a lot of the euros were complaining about the black wooden boxes with the quarter-pipe type arrangement. i would suggest they 'stfu' - trials is riding over anything and everything. if there's a box with a quarter-circle shape on the side it doesn't make it a quarter-pipe made for skateparks. if you can't ride it then harden up and practice that. i loved what ed called it though, "the hatepark".

Here is proof the Joel "Big Guns" Davis's DVD will definately be worth the purchase!! (And thus justify buying a $500 press pass to film at the worlds)

Even the mod looks too big on him!:bowrofl:

The sections look like they were for a local comp. They would be fun to ride, but not the "look" of a World Championship event.

I can't stand when riders complain about stuff like that, its so stupid. Its not like they have to nose-pick to tire tap back into it. You just have to get up over it. Deal with it. And its not like they haven't seen it before. Almost every single year that the BIU held its final in Itadori, Japan, there was a man made section with some sort of kickers or mini ramps.

From what I remember the Coust kids were getting very red faced and pissy about the little half pipe that was in the Beaver Creek, CO section... circa UCI Worlds 2001. I'm sure it's not a problem for them anymore though

Ed Stole my word. In LA we call it a hatepark cause we always get mad amounts of tickets anytime we go to the skateparks on our BMX bikes. None of us were hating on the section mainly because we rode the local skatepark a couple days before the comp.

ahhh. so we got there and sorta discovered that no one really gave a shit if JD filmed without any pass or anything. TV3 were just trying to get free money and the UCI told Dorgs they didn't really care as there wouldnt be much coverage of trials anyway. So no fee

TRIALS IS DEAD.

...coming soon, it will be fucking rad
