if you've got the coin go with a king headset. there is no substitute.

Pete, King are the best headsets, but really any loose-ball $30-$60 XC/mtb headset will be fine. Aheadset, Tange, whatever. Your LBS will know what you mean.

FSA Pig ftw. Super cheap and sturdy.
i just bought a BBB sealed cartridge bearing headset for $19.95 at my LBS. Not sure how it will go but I thought for that price you can't go wrong. (unless of course it screws my frame or something....)

dunno about the over pricing of king stuff....
been riding a king headset for about 7 or 8 years on my ds bike.
ive ridden it loose several times after hasty assemblies (road trips)
still to this day is buttery smooth
sealed bearing is the way to go

FSA pig wheighs more than your frame, get a king or a hope, any high end headset will do.

King if you can afford it. if not FSA pig is the only other option I'd ever do. and it's totally worth the dough.
