I still don't get how you're running v's on a DH bike. If you are capable of running v's on this bike, its not a downhill.
I guess putting all that aside... koolstop salmon pads

What do you think of these 2 pads?
1. Kool Stop Eagle Claws V-Brake Pads? (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=10801)
2.Kool Stop Thinline Cantilever Peg Pads (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=8136)?

first of all. you're wrong. no offense. my marzocchi super-t has vee posts on it.
secondly. after getting the proper setup, which we've already figured out, the pads are pretty simple. it just kinda depends on how often you want to change them. downhile pads aren't that picky. I'd say hit up the kool stops. you can buy the cartridge refills for avid or shimano and they have many different compounds, some work better in wet, some grab well cause they are soft but don't last as long. see in trials, the braking is totally different. you don't want a brake to simply lock up and stay that way in downhill. you just need one that'll slow the tire down, and you want lots of modulation. that's the main reason for disc but in all honestly a really good set of vee's will modulate better than most mechanical discs. what shop are you ordering the brakes from? let me know and I'll see what pads they have and give you a recommendation. that way you can tag it on with the same shipping. assuming you're ordering online.

yeah, trialsrider is right. Perhaps the word capable is the wrong word. I just don't remember the last time i saw someone running V's on a dH bike. my bad

i checked out that brake cable. I'd go to something a little more solid, the housing will be squishy for lack of a better word. here's the sram flak jacket http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=1588 that stuff is solid. it worth the extra dough. you should see if you can buy just the sinlge though. that's a kit, has front and rear. it'd be half as much if you bought it alone.
also. the brakes should come with pads already. and I think avid uses the cartridge type. if so just use those until they pass out and then try something along the lines of this. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=2965
again. from my experience. kool-stop are the shit. any LBS will sell them. expecially the 90% of them that order through QBP

v's served a good purpose and hydro disc are just more practical for downhill of course but I ran and xtr vee on the front and an avid arch rival on an rm-7 before i bought the older shimano xt disc brakes and really the only difference is, vee's fade more. I can't say they actually grab any less. they're was a time for vees and they still serve a purpose. not trying to start a fight just letting the guy know that choosing to use vees on a downhill ride is not something to be ashamed of.
