Hello, I am just getting into the trials sport and am looking to buy a bike. I was curious if stock or mod would be better to learn on or if there is a difference. Stock seems to be easier to find but mod may be better.

mod will cost you less in replacement parts it seems like. wheels will last longer, shorter spokes. and will be easier to learn trials moves on. I ride mod and love it. I'll probably get a stock too just for a change of pace but I think starting on a mod is a good idea.

Ok thanks, Ive just been looking online for bikes and I can't seem to find mod ones. Ive found a 05/06 norco evolve for 450 which interested me as it was cheap. But I guess Ill keep looking for a mod.

keep your eyes peeled on this site. stuff comes along. look for like an echo team, or even an older monty mod. as far as the norco stuff, their bikes rock but I've heard the geometry isn't very trials friendly. I haven't ridden one though.

look on a few diffrent sites. www.biketrials.com (http://www.biketrials.com) www.trials-forum.com (http://www.trials-forum.com) . now a lot of the people who post on there post stuff on trials forum. but sometimes u find some diffrent stuff. i found my python on biketrials for like 650...so just keep ur eyes peeled. and onthe mod or stock question it just depends. i spent a lot of time on a 20 bmx bike growing up and felt pretty comfortable on a mod. but i learned how to pedal kick on my xc bike. but mods are like tanks...at least my python is. i have broke a few spokes here and there but i weigh a couple bucks and i throw down hard. i was comfortable after a few good rides. and they are cheaper.
