I guess it's mainly the tyres that make your bike that heavy. Get rid of the DH 2.2 on the front. That's just overkill, get a 2.35 maxxis singleply instead. Will safe you about 500g plus it grips and bounces a lot better. The Michelin tyres feel like they're dead... I didn't like them.

my xtp was <23 lbs, about 22.8. that michy dh 2.2 is definately a problem.. i had a try-all which is the equivalent to a singleply maxxis 2.2/35 whatever it was

i donno, i dont think so... my rear tire added maybe an extra .2-.5 lbs over a try-all rear, but thats pretty much the only thing that what different, i ran a king hub instead of a fixed, but i had a singlespeed and a singleator so it should have been really close.

rear wheel is echo fixed hub with tryall xxl
vp clear grips
avid mechanical 203mm front disc
hs33 rear w/ old threshold brake booster

should i maybe go back to a 185mm disc?

Drilling 1 inch holes into the rim, will safe you about 100g, a 185mm rotor will save about 20g. Better change the tyres dude!

imo its not worth it unless youre bored, id just build it up and forget about holes :o

Truvativ bottom brackets are ungodly heavy. I think the FSA platinum is 100some grams less than the truvativs...

better to drill around 10 to 15mm hole.. hole too big will lose its strength.

my bike is 26lbs also, but I run FSA vdrives with a huge bash, and a px knifen lite, chris king classic rear hub with a cassette, shimano sora rear mech, FSA pig DH headset. It works out nicely.

It's funny how people say that. Weight off of you doesn't do nearly as much as weight off the bike. With a ligher bike it's so much more flickable and takes way less energy to ride.

weight off you means more tha nanything if its fat.

My Pitbull is 24lbs exactly. I think your tire, chains...just adds so much more weight.

Ive never weighed any of my bikes or bike parts. I think my Coust would weigh about 400 lbs.
