I bought the movie Manifesto and I love that style of riding (no set up or recovery hops). I was wondering, has this style alwys been around or is this something that Ryan thought up?

I read in an interview with Hans Rey that Ryan's style of riding was used in competitions back when Hans was in his 'prime'. But I haven't read it in a while.

Personally, It's nice to see as an innovation, but to me, it seems more like a new goal to reach.

depends.. it can be worth it.. it not only has his 20 min manifesto video.. but it also shows every section of every video he's ever been in up to manifesto

The Manifesto section is too short but very cool. Then there is another 40 min of ryan history so i wood say it is worth it

yah manifesto itself is a short film, but the extras on the dvd more than make up for it. its worth the money. as for the manifesto style, leech talks about it in his other video, Mastering the Art of Trials. i dont think he claims to have come up with it.

The history part in the movie is the best thing about this video. Some pretty cool riding in it.

If anyone ever wants to see either The Art of Trials or Manifesto I usually have them with me (Along with a portable DVD player) at most of the comps I go to.

I typically bring a bunch of movies with me while everyone is waiting around for the award ceremony.
