I have an old 2001 monty x-hydra, and I was wondering what the official way of measuring wheelbases is beacuse I'm looking at upgrading my frame. I originally thought I wanted something longer thinking that my frame was average in length.. but when i measured from one hub to the other it was only 980mm in length. I was wondering how companies offically measure this because all forks are different.. mine has a curve on it.. so is there a standard for forks? And 980mm doesn't sound right does it? it feels (much) longer than some other mods i've tried.. but I don't know the length of those ones.

I always measured from the middle of the axle, to the middle of the axle.. and it seemed to work for me. the centre of the axle, would be the middle of the rim, and thus being where the wheel makes contact with the ground.
mind you I could be wrong, I just thought that was the logical way of doing it, which seems to be the same as yours.
as for forks. I think they use whatever fork they advertise it with to measure the wheelbase.
horizontal dropouts also comes into play, but only by an inch or so. that could also be why 980 doesn't seem right.

from front hub center to rear hub center..
as for the fork, either straight or curved, there r all the same.

make sure your wheel and bars are perfectly straight when measuring, because if your wheel is turned it can add or subtract 20 mm pretty easily from the total bike length.

Yeah, you measured correctly.
Different forks will give you different wheelbase lengths, but not a dramatic change.
If the bike feels longer then it's probably the stem that is making it feel that way.
Wheelbase only is felt when spanning a gap, not when balancing on both wheels or even only on one wheel.

Wheelbase is felt in every single aspect of trials riding- rear wheel, sidehop, balancing, trackstanding, upping, anything you can think of...huge differences...

this is probably the most repedative question thats been asked... but i'm 6 feet tall on the dot... 32inch legs with a shorter troso and a long neck to make me reach 6 feet.. I can take more measurements of me.. like my arms if needed.. but... how can i figure out a good wheel base length for my size...

It's entirely on feel. It's been said enough times, search. There are a billion threads on this, and all of them conclude with 'it's your preference'. Try riding different length bikes if you can, and then get an idea of what you like.

can't be entirely preference... there are certain rules with most parts for different types of riding.. surly there is a way to figure out atleast a range like 1000mm to 1200mm ect..

haha, well i think most would agree that they ride a trials bike (including mods) between 1000 and 1100.
