I finally got to test out my new video camera and obviously I haven't figured it out yet. I'm also still testing out encoding methods, so consider this the first attempt.
I included some of my lame ass riding to contrast Tom's stellar riding, he had a good day too:
File Name: Rockport Trials 7.17.06

His nipples are 47" AGL in case you wanted to know.

it was really choppy video for me....qt4 didn't play it (not necessarily your fault), so i was using vlc player. about a minute and a half through it got significantly worse and kind of just stopped displaying video altogether.

Yeah Erik and I both agree, we're not allowed to talk if the camera is on ever again .....:hsugh:
I'm still in shock that I hit that sidehop...... :run:

it's H.264 and new but relatively common codec I think. It is HDV, do you have an older computer? Quicktime 4 is really old.
Sorry you couldn't see it. If a lot of people have trouble,I may try to encode a smaller version. It took overnight to encode this one, so I'm dreading that a little.

A recent version of QT should do it. The current one is 7.1.2
I tried VLC on my computer and it was very choppy and complained about dropping frames.

worked great for me.... props on the BIG sidehop. Is it a huge pain to edit/import the hdv stuff?

I wouldn't say it was a huge pain. I imported everything in a few hours. It imports at 1/2 to 1/4 speed on my 1 year old Powerbook. The editing and rendering didn't seem much slower than DV. The encoding to H.264 took a few hours. I just set it up before I went to bed and it was done when I woke up. The big thing is HD space. When I started editing this movie I had 25GB free, now I have 5GB.
I have just received Final Cut Express (this movie was done in iMovie) so now I can do all the importing to a scratch disk, so it should be a little faster. We'll see.

Nice camera. Nice wide angle... i anticipate some great movies in the future. QT 6 pro still choppy on my old powerbook. Updating software, will probably work now.
