Patch

I'm new to trials and just picked up a Alibongo w/420mm fork.
What length stem would you recommend,I'm 6"1?

Thanks in advance.

I'm 5'10 and new to trials also but I've had decent luck with using a 105mm with 17deg rise. I tried a short stem at first because it was easier to lift the front end but soon found out the cockpit was to crowded and that with the longer stem I could get ontop higher things easier. I'm a newbe so take what I say like a grain of salt.

do you want to ride it street style.. lots of bunny hops and manuals, or more trials dedicated on natural and stuff?

Street, try a shorter stem.
Trialsy, try longer stem

I'd say if your riding an alibongo already, go with the shorter stem. 90 mm or so maybe?

I used a 100x10 on an Alibongo with a 400mm fork for a while, and it felt fine. Can you borrow a stem from somebody to try it out? You have to know someone who has an extra.

Thanks for the replys.
I'm using a 100 x 10 with 2 10mm spacers below the stem. I've also tried a 90 x 10 Thompson and the 100 felt better.
Maybe 120? How long is too long?

I've been riding a 90mm x 25deg Tryall with Easton Monkey bars and it feels perfect.

Once again thanks for the replys. almost everything I'll be riding will be natural. Slowly getting use to the new bike and the 100 definitly fells better. Put on a set of Diabolous bars to match the VP Free and 4X, rotated them forward. Just need to get out and ride!
