I made one before out of a derailer and it worked pretty well and then it broke. I like to run thicker chains and I need something than can handle a KMC 410 chain..

DMR sts tensioners work alright as long as you have quick release hub. Just change the roller for a jockey wheel off any derailleur. They're only like $20 or so.

i used this tensioner 2 years and never broke it or bent it, it never skips either and is really cheap.
