Did you really think I'd be able to resist one of these? ;)

200mm Rotor... :naughty:

Not had chance to ride it yet due to the awful weather up here, but initial corridor impressions are that the back end is nice and stiff (great for fatboys like me), and the rear brake makes me go  :D every time I yank it on, haha.
Cheers

@Adam
And what about the KOT dual disc bike? :)
I think I fell in love with dual disc bikes! That looks so awesome! Especially the rear disc! :eek3:
Is that a tryall rim on the rear? Or one of those echos?

Its still a KOT Dual Disc bike, sort of, except it has no parts hung on the frame :P
Echo rim up front, Try-All at the rear.

Your fork looks slightly on the long side Roman. Those BT forks look nice, but need to be shortened to the normal 400 mm length.

The ST-1 frame looks wrong.. Dude, there's something wrong about it!

it's because from the side, the angle of the down tube doesn't match the angle of the 'seatstays' where they come together. That angle doesn't mesh well visually with the curvy front end.

I don't think it needs to be shortened at all. It pretty nice for tapage :)

If they had bent the seat tube a little more back, so that it's curved like e.g. on the current xtp, it would look a lot nicer!
I really like the fact that it has a +40mm disc mount! Finally you can use the hope mono trial with a killer 200mm rotor - without using flexy adaptors!

Very nice as always Ad, is that rear 200mm rotor 'special'?
Or do Hope sell them that size now?

What fork you rockin' Adam? It looks ill. That ST-1 is probably the nicest bike I've ever seen. I really liked your Kot, but this thing is even better!

'is that rear 200mm rotor 'special'?'
Not really, but there's no other trials frame that'll let you run a 200mm Mono Trial/Marta/Louise etc without an adaptor!
'i think its a 7" not an 8"'
8" (well, near enough) - The conversion is 25.4mm per inch for reference :)
'What fork you rockin' Adam?'
Its an Echo Urban, disc only.
Cheers for the comments!

Hey roman - why do you have your grips pushed in on the bars? Isn't it sketchy to have the bar sticking out unprotected like that? I can't wait to see a core sample of Roman's chest in the media forum.

I nailed them before and it was fine. The prob is that the freaking lock doesn't clamp all the way if its at the end of the bar so you get moto grips then. Maybe one of these days I'll cut the bars a tad down.

Hey Tart,
That's one nice lookin bike. How do you like riding rear disc compared to a good grind? I'd say I prefered it.

The fork is an Echo Urban (disc only). The rest of the parts... Middleburn cranks, Pro2 Trials rear hub, ISO front, Gusset SlimJim pedals, Onza carbon bars, Echo External BB, Hope headset, Rohloff tensioner... the rest is pretty easy to work out from the pic.
I really like the rear disc, yeah. There's something about loads of quiet modulation, coupled with as much lock as you'll ever need that's just... nice :Wavey:
Off riding this weekend, will try and get some video footage.
Cheers

Did the brake power increase a lot, compared to the 180mm rotor on the KOT?
thetart20
07-21-2006, 01:13 PM
Its hard to say yet, as the brake hasn't bedded in fully (the Hope brakes can take months until they are at 100% effeciency!), but it is easily as good as the 180mm on my KOT already :) Stan has a 200mm Mono Trial on the front of his bike and that is a beast - I can't wait for mine to bed in!
Chris
07-21-2006, 02:26 PM
Damn... I thought the Avids were the only brakes to take so long to bed in :(
So Stan switched again from the Formula? 200mm mono trial on the front sounds good, don't know about the flexy adaptor though... (in case he uses one).

Hey are the hope mono trials very strong brakes? What would oyu compare them to? Also are they like the hope mono minis, that suck.
