So I've been feeling pains in the lower back for quite some time now (the bone, and not the muscles). And yesterday, I started feeling something around the shoulder blades too. It's really pissing me off, since I can't bend over and come back up without feeling some pain. I'm pretty sure it's because of trials, since it's the only sport I do that really uses the back. I don't really notice it hurting while I'm riding, but anytime else, especially during mornings, and it hurts.

Anything I can do to fix it? Are there any vitamins or workout routines that I could do to help it? I'm riding around with a ~30 pound bike, and walk with a slight slouch, if that info can help.

I'm only 16, so getting back problems now is kinda worrying me...

theres somethings that promote joint growth but you say its bone... rest it till it feels better and then just start riding a little bit and strech a lot? id take it to a doctor or something though if it doesnt go away soon. mine gets sore here and there (im 18).

i have a sore lower back, going to see an osteopath tomorrow morning... once it gets better im gonna work on strengthening my lower back ans stomach because i feel my lower spine isnt getting enough support unlike my upper body which is a lot stronger...

Stretch a lot too mate, it helps more than anything else!

Peace

it's the only sport I do that really uses the back.

I think this might be key? Try doing some other exercises that utilise your back and stomach muscles.

When you get pain in the "bone", it usually means your discs or facet joints are under stress. If you walk with a slight slouch then thats putting awkward pressures on your discs 24/7

also, if you walk with a slouch, that means you have muscle imbalances, and whenever you have muscle imbalances between the flexor and extensor chains, you're going to have some distortion of your spine.

Usually sitting all day in office/school chairs is the culprit, and trials is just the hair that broke the camels back.

Find a good Rolf Method Practitioner in your area, your problems will "magically" disappear.

If you have stiff muscles in your legs & hips you'll have back pain especially the lower area. I would get an X-Ray first to make sure you don't have any serious alignment problems or possible damage which most chiropractors can tell you. It doesn't sound like you have a pinched nerve but rather lack of flexibility.

But as far as fixing the back goes, everyday stretching, core muscle workout like someone mentioned and also deep tissue massage helps to get the muscle relaxed. I stretch a lot before the ride, after and before bed time actually...ibuprofein can only do so much.

Don't do situps, the musculature involved is not the primary stabilizers of your back, and it's basically a worthless exercise. Unless you want your gut to stick out, and have a bigger hunch in your back.

You need transversus and oblique training, if you don't know what those are, find a trainer in your area who does.

I wouldn't go to a doctor either, most MD's aren't trained to properly get muscls firing right again, usually they'll just put you on pain meds to mask the symptoms.

Pm me if you want more info, years ago I had the same problems, but more sking related.

I got some x-rays, i think im going to pick them up next week, maybe i can take a pic..

my tail bone is about 1cm further back than the rest of my spine.. You can feel it stick out, and it always got sore..

didnt know for sure until a chiropracter offered a free examination in hopes i would come back.. but he said he wouldnt work on it until i had an mri anyways..

he had me bend forward and backward, said its relative position didnt move so it should be relatively stable.. i guess my next step is to ask the dr for some pain meds :hsugh:

Supermans are an exercise you can do on the floor with our without weights to increase strength in your lower back.

Juice is steroids.

DBOL is a type of steroid...kind of...
