It seems like everyone is either running vees or a disk on this frame. Shoulda kept 'em with vee mounts instead of maggies.

I like that it has the maggie mounts. Even though I am going to run disc anyways. If i start slipping Im gonna switch to HSS3's

You should just lock out the deraillure so that you don't need the zip tie.

Nice bike man, i like the set up. The only thing i'd do if i owned that frame is slap on a higher rise bar or stem with your set up.
Enjoy the cool bike.

If you don't mind paying the extra 50 or so for heatsink adapters, the maggie mount simtras are way stiffer due to the "built in booster", imo it was worth it.
Thanks for the comments, I'm going to be throwing a gu fork on there soon too..

Yeah I got my Heatsink adapters and my brake is absolutely amazing. But I attribute my stiffness more to my Heatsink pads, Ultimate caliper, Salsa carbon booster and Nokon housing.

Has your booster cracked yet? mine has :wtc:

My booster hasn't cracked :hsugh:... do I have something to worry about? Did you hit/score the carbon, because that make it crack for sure.

Right now i still have no idea how it happened.. was wondering if you had a similar experience.. as for hitting it on something, i don't recall ever doing that but it still is a possibility. Edit: another thing that i noticed was that the metal bits that the bolts clamp on have moved around quite a bit.. :dunno:

It's possible that you got a defective one. Mine is running perfectly, although it's only about 2 months old. My frame has zero flex right now, and my metal things haven't moved at all.

Using that fork and the Avid, how close is the rotor to the caliper at the closest part? I'm now on my second Superlight (because the first one had a fucked up disc mount) and this one is no better. My rotor is about .5 mm from the caliper, and that's after filing down a washer to make it flush with the caliper. I love the bite/power of my brake, but I'm so tempted to go back to vees just because it's so much maintenance to make it work properly.

from the caliper or from the pad? the inner pad is supposed to be as close to the disc as you can get it without it rubbing. what hub are you running? maybe its the hub's problem, not the fork, because i've had no problems with mine and i didn't even face the disc mount.

Even if the pad rubs its not big deal. Not like you are going to loose that extra 2mph on your bike at full speed...

sick bike. What are you doing with that fork when you get the GU one??

No no no. I'm not talking about pad rub. I'm talking about the rotor rubbing on the caliper. As in metal on plastic. If I flex the forks sideways at all while riding, I can hear the rotor and caliper touching, and it makes a really bad sound, and the caliper touching the rotor cannot be a good thing.
