I'm going from stock to mod and would like to run my current V-brake setup (Bonz adapters and Avid SD7 arms). Will there be any problems? I remember hearing something about clearence issues on mods.

Thanks.

hi all,

i have found that the cable that joins the two levers together can sometimes rub on the top of the tyre depending on the position on the mounts. other than that i dont think there are any probs.

thanks

I had a bit of a time making mine work properly - I had clearance problems at first, but solved them with spacers and longer arms. The biggest problem I have now is getting the pads angled right so as to hit the rim flat. Even with these problems my brake works amazing.

I will go more into the last problem when I have more time...

Yeah, i had issues with the crosswire dragging on the tire, this was fixed by:

a) using brakes with longer arms. This let me run with the wheel deeper in the drop out, allowing for a shorter chainstay length, and the use of a bmx chain tensioner.

and then

b: Adding a link to my chain, moving the wheel farther back in the drop out. This option let me use a better brake, one that didn't suck so much. Although now i'm waiting for Threshold tensioners from webcyclery. They've been on backorder for over a month now. Oh well.

May I ask what length are your V-brake arms? Are they the Tektro ones that are 110 mm?

I'm a little sick of having to re-setup my Maguras everytime I adjust chain tension or to clean my pads (so my brakes don't suck...).
