long chainstays for touring bikes, short for trials bikes.

i have a question, how does the cs affect the way you ride, if it-s bellow 385 and longer than 385 let`s say......

shorter c.s. makes u stay longer on rear wheel. shorter c.s. is made for gd rear wheel control.

yeah but don`t u lose traction, I mean on a mod u can`t gap as long as on a stock bike (or on a zoo vs an echo control)

The newer bikes have short chainstays and longer top tubes. For example. The older Montys had similar Cs lenghts to the new Zoo mods. But the old Montys were 960ish wheelbase and the newer Zoo's are 1005-1045 with the simialr chainstay. Its all in the toptube and fork rake. Hope this helps

But no matter wat frame u r using, u will one day used to it. Keep practicing.

Lets not forget about bottom bracket height.

I'd say that if you are buying a bike and not building the frame yourself....and it's made for trials then the geometry is safe. The nuance differences will make this bike better for this or that or the other thing...but unless you're able to critique your own style and compare it to others...like my drunken monkey VS your mantis it probably doesn't matter that much.

BB height is a good one. I ride a +10 BB on my stock bike and I rode a + 35 I think on my mod. I love the height on the +10 on a stock or +20..Any higher in my opinion the bike feels like you are on stilts...It's nice for hooking 90 degree walls but other than that they arent' too much fun to ride. I had not really had any bb clearance issues when hooking on my +10 up bike.
