Funny, I was thinking that these levers with those edges would be finger killers, like the old HS 33's kill my finger now!

It reminds me good old days of mid 90ties. When AC,TNT,CookBros,Paul,Ringle and other guys were the kings. CNC+Bright anodizing all around the place.
No doubt Deng tries hard. But looking at these things its kind of sad.
I hope ONE DAY some proper MTB component companies discover us and give us REAL PRODUCTS with up to date design and applied technologies.

They may look like burns or shimanos, but I'll bet those things aren't drop-forged or backed by a lifetime warranty like burns are.
As for those levers, they look pretty nice, surely there's not much you can fuck up in a lever other than shape?? Are they any longer than the standard magura levers? like RB's?
I thought they were replacment hope levers to start with. :wtc:

Damn, can you wrap your finger around those blades?? Could have made them rounder/less hurty looking. And I thought Hope blades were hella fat.. maybe it's just my hands :dunno:

My interwebz engineering degree says those booster are shit. Just buy a Heatsink, for 3 quid more at least you know it'll actually be stiff.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
For the same price, it's going to be a tough choice between 'burns and Deng's cranks :joshers: Maybe if Deng put time into testing and analysis and less time into comming up with a bunch of different styles, his products would be worth half of what they cost. :dunno:

Why everybody are angry about those colorful parts?? You can always choose silver or black and keep bike non-colorful. Deng give you great choice about what to buy. Nobody will force you to buy it. I don't see any point in people complaining about parts, what they didn't even have in their own hands and judge like they would be really experienced in using them.
Wait for first opinions maybe try it by yourself then you could judge it.

Like I said, I wouldn't turn em down. Choice is always good.
Definately Heatsink boosters get my vote, those things are beefy as hell and weigh nothing, I couldn't believe it when I held it. Too bad I haven't been on HS33's in a while or I'd be rocking that booster. I was just wondering if these pretty ones happened to have wider spacing than ~100mm, you get to wondering this once you use v's, that's all.

Maybe they designed them to be similar to hope blades since many people are using them?
Oh wait, that would be way too intelligent..... ;)
I personally like the hope blades, so these look pretty good to me.

actually i like the brake lever. if you look at the end of it you will notice that it is rounded off in a way that will not hurt. at the same time though remember that the lever is only designed for one fingure braking! i'm actualling really interested in getting one.

I don't get why he decided to put out 5 different designs for 5 different brands. Use the time you spend drawing up 5 designs instead on making one part and testing it. I would rather they put out an echo crank, headset, booster etc that was tested than just put out several different ones for each brand. I guess there are people in the trials community who will want all red adamant parts on their bikes, so these will sell, but I think many people would rather have one useful part than a choice of 5 different parts in 8 colors each but none of them work.

I like Nate's idea with his control frame,.. just randomize your parts colors. Make it SO ugly that no one will want to ride your bike.

I'm not sure how many of you have actually run the last batch of blingy ech(m)o gear, but these are NOT the cranks that were complained about on a different thread.
If it is cold forged 7075 aluminum CNC'd and ano'd, it's good. That's more than Tryall can say for their product. Overpriced tawainese,..uh,. I mean,. french shit.
I'm digging the Gu bash since it reminds me of my ol' bonz cranks,.. just need a gold one to match my metrosexual bike.

I hope ONE DAY some proper MTB component companies discover us and give us REAL PRODUCTS with up to date design and applied technologies.
Problem is, from most «proper MTB component company»'s point of view, trials ain't an interesting market at all, as they generally see bike trials as a very small market of picky and broke, hard-to-satisfy weight-weenies, unconsciously abusing frames and components...
The typical trials rider ain't their target customer, when they know 40 year old rich guys walk into bike shops to buy complete 8000$ XC or Road bikes without even bargaining the price or asking for a free water bottle.
I fucking love the look of those levers. If they are stiff, they will be sweet. As for roundness, I really dont think there are enough edges on those to worry about.

Yeah, I guess you are right, somebody should tell them!
When I look at the Koxx for example. What they did build from NOTHING in couple years. Only trials products! They are strong enough now to have a team riders, expand in to bmx, mtb...
I think there is market in trials. We are not broke at all! looking around-We all pimp our bikes big way. We all have King (the most expensive hub on planet) in the back..expensive hydraulic brakes, Frames that are horribly expensive, considering theyr just a hardtails. We are happy to pay rediculous money for ordinary rigid forks. i could go on..
I just wish some decent competition in trials parts. There are many people in the world doing trials. And all of them are ready to pay A LOT for things they ride on. But we all are forced to buy generic stuff with trials logos on!
I remember dreaming about AC cranks 10 years ago They looked SO HOT!
But even at that time people riding bikes knew that cranks just machined out of alu billet are just not strong enough. 10 years of development and testing resulted in cranks that are different. Garrage companies couldnt keep up and now we have big companies like shimano in the front. SHIMANO XT is how todays cranks should look like design and technology wise. Instead we are forced to buy untested cnc designs.
Not that I dont like what Deng just did. Im an industrial designer. I must say most parts have good esthetics. The guy who designes it is talented. But everything is just 10 years LATE! Now I expect something better. Something different.

it depends where you hold the lever. for people that grip the lever on the end of their finger it's alright, but a lot of people have the lever sitting inside the first bendy bit of the finger, where it's goddamn sore to use square levers.
i included a compatibility guide for people thinking about buying this lever, based on how you hold it :greddy:

I guess I have big hands since I'd have to add an "O" below your "X" where I pull the lever. For that reason, the flatter the lever the better for me.
Bryan

I pull at the x. I use square levers and I think they are far better than the short, skinny, stupid, painful hs05 levers. Personal preference.
Sir_Crackien

i'm with lucky13 and hold the lever on the flat part in the middle of my index finger and i have no prolbem using the flat bladed lever. infact i would really like the lever that deng has made because of its design and it even looks like it will give even more leverage to the rider using it (although i can't comfirm that). over all i think that most of these new parts are kinda useless but i do like to see some one in the trials indrustry trying the give use riders some sort of options on the parts that we run and at a prie that i can afford. i for one am not willing the buy a king rear hub or a koxx frame or some of these other compones that i know we are just entirely getting ripped off on.
i know alot of people on the inside of the cycling indrustry and i also know that it only cost a couple of buck to make an of the parts that we are buying (including the frames as well). i think as a wohle we should try to bring down the starting price for a trials bike so that more people are willing to give it a try. right now the entering price into a decent trials bike (one that is not trash) is about 1000 buck. for a mountain bike its about 600-800 buck an about 700 for a road bike. both of these bikes are more popular to start with and have more appeal. what trials needs is a no bling bike that gets the job done that comes in at about the 500-600 buck mark. this will probibly bring more people into the sport. if this happens we will more likely be able to get some other bigger name manufactures in the game. this in trun will bring better and less exspensive parts to the market that we can all enjoy. in the end its a vicious circle that will never end and bring all of trials to a higher playing feild.
also i think for the most part we are trying to market to the wrong group of people. i know that more of my bmx friend are more interested in tirals than any of my mountian biking friends. also i know that if there was that less expensive bike that many of them would be interested in to getting one. not only for the fun of trials but to also up their bmx game. none the less though we would have more trials riders. i all about the low numbers and knowing that you are part of a small club of people that ride in a different way, but you all seem to want all the technology in the world to be pored in to the sport as well. we could be more technology if the sport had more of a following. this is true for any sport and every type on business.
this is just my take on the whole subject at hand here and sorry for the bad spelling and grammer
that is all dan
