Yeah, but you did ride those forks like Peace rides 12year olds.

I managed to make mine last about 2 years. The verdict is though, alloy steerer

I don't know what brand forks I, and most of the other sydney guys, run now. They're just black rigid disc forks with a steel bonded steerer, they weight about 900ish grams? They seem to be the goods so far, I don't think anyone has managed to break a set yet. (My money is on either Macbeth or Joel "Big Guns" Davis, Macbeth cause he rides every day, Joel cause he's gonna have a fit of rage one day and just tear them apart with his bare hands)

Hey where did you get your forks from Garth, I'm going to need some soon.
My steerer is bent and getting to the point where I cant tighten the headset anymore to take out the headset rattle

Planet X Knifen Lite is my suggestion if it is still available or you can find a used one.

knifen light is an awesome fork, but heavy. I've been running an echo urban fork for almost 2 years. But then again, mine probably doesn't have that many riding hours on it compared to all you energetic young things. It also has a nasty paint job on it which helps to hold it together.

Looks very much like the Cannondale Fatty R fork but with some retarded brake mount? Or is it 26/24 compatible?

Daniel

Its 26/24 compatible i dont know if they are stronger than Urbans. My one cracked on the weld which is probaly nicer if you spot it rather than the steerer going on you like your urbans.

I broke one of those black sets of forks ages ago. Lasted me about 1 year I think, probably less actually? Both the legs snapped off and the alloy in them was really thin. They also seemed pretty flexy, but im not sure if that was just my headset because its snapped.

Good guess Garth, mine are bent and will need replacing very soon although I didn't just get angry and tear them apart, just been practicing gaps to front wheel a lot. Now I know why my wheelbase is like 15mm shorter than it should be :eek3:

I'm thinking of getting the same fork again because it seems like there's nothing else good out there?

Bare hands/Sheer mass, stop nit-picking. That explain the wheel-base thing though. Is it the legs that are bent? Or is it up near the crown race?

You could try Echo CNC'd forks, they're a bargin at $220 :hsugh:.......

They are bent up near the crown race, I haven't taken them off yet to look at the damage.

I was thinking of getting some GU forks or maybe another pair of the same :dunno:

Can anyone recommend a good fork?

i just got a koxx forxx. it seems really solid, and it's got a steel steerer. i don't think i'd ever buy a trials fork with an alloy steerer.

Ok you are complaining that one of the lightest forks on the market with an aluminum steertube broke after an entire year of riding? i don't see any problem with that...

Word. But it depends how often you ride, a year of riding for some could be equal to a month of riding for others :dunno:

I'm gonna give the GU fork a go :x:
