I have to buy new gloves on a regular basis because i keep on ripping then, i have tried types of fox and 661 but only last a few months. Are there any ones that will last a year or so?

i had a pair of oneals i dirtbiked/dirtjumped in for about a year or more and they have this mesh on the side on the inside fingers that might start to tear a little bit. but i have had a pair of specialized gloves for a year and a half that have worked well for XC/dirtjumping/trials. i love them...they have a small pad on the ball of my thumb which might seem like it would hinder feel but it really doesnt at all. i love em!

I raced motocross for years before getting into trials and in my opinion Motocross gloves made with REAL leather would be your best bet if you really want something to last long. Motocross is much harder on gloves than trials and mine lasted forever. Many of the gloves made today are made with synthetic leather which does not last long at at.

The only problem with getting the real leather gloves is that most trials riders from what I can tell, like the thin palms so they can feel everything much better.

If you can find them anywhere, get some Hebo Trial Teams. You will not regret it...

I made those pics in June '04 to show someone my gloves. They're still in that condition now, except a tiny little tear on the tip of my left index finger. They last for forever, but are still super comfy. I'd definitely recommend them :)

check out the specialized gloves

they're suppose to reduce hand cramps too

I've had mines since 2002 which I used for freeriding. I've taken a few spills and its still holding up to now.

I found with my Specialized gloves that the little gel pad firmed up a load and ended up putting more pressure on my ulnar nerve. However, the ulnar nerve (or wahtever it's called) isn't really as much of a problem with trials as XC or whatever?

forget hebo. get mechanix gloves. you can get them at any auto parts store. they are the exact same thing as hebo or tryall, and they only cost $20. last a long time, come in cool colors like blue red and black.

Thor MX gloves.

I've got 2 pairs. Both have lasted alot of abuse over the last 8 months and are still in very good shape. I have the Phase model. Cheap too!

I have had Rocket Power Parts, Fox, Oneal, Hebo Pro 05's and No Fear gloves over the years.
Thors own all for quality, price and fit IMHO.

I also wash my gloves every ride or two, keeps them clean, fresh and stops them from rotting.

those hebo ones look a bit baggy:S

I have found THE best gloves ever!!! Dougie Lampkin replicas.

They are sooo thin they feel like those latex ones machanics use its just like a 2nd skin.

These are nice. They don't last but at 4 bucks a pair you can buy 25 pairs and have new gloves everyday for a month.
Ooops, a month is 30 or 31 days. My bad. New gloves everyday for 25 days.

Since I have nothing actually pertinent to this thread, I'm going to stop typing now.

PS I use 661, I wont use anything else.

Troy Lee Designs Air...it's thin & breathes like no other. Plus there are no stupid velcro's & still does the job

Heh, a little while ago I had the idea of making heated gloves for riding in the cold. I should get back on makin that.

There you have a number of acceptable choices in gloves.

They are easier than any specific bike glove to get, and are cheap so when they do eventually rip up its not a big deal.

i've had the same pair of the most basic fox gloves since 1998. everything else i have used falls apart. i use the fox gloves just for biking, and others for MX. mind you, using the gloves just for biking is probably why they don't fall apart.

My Specialized winter glover are about 5 years old. I used them for XC and now trials. They have hit the ground more than I would like to admit.

I usually just go to home depot and pick from their wall o' gloves.

Here's my current pair, which I like a lot - no stupid padding on the palm or fingers:

edit: hard to beat $9.95, $6 when they're on sale.

i had a pair of troy lee gloves and i rode every day for 12 months with them and then maybe 4-5 times a week for another 18 months and they were still going strong.
just past the 2.5 year mark they started to give way but still are useable.
i wear 661 gloves now and they are only 2 months old...still look good on top but the palms are stuffed, i woulnt waste my money on them again.
i used to always wear fox gloves back in the day of bmx for me, but i found them to wear out to quickly.
just my 2c.

I have the "contractor" version of these gloves. They are found at home depo
and cost $25 dollars. They fit and perform just as well if not better than the $60 and up fox gloves I have been using for years.

Just go to your nearest Yamaha or honda dealer or something, and try on their assortment of gloves. any reputable dealer will have a great selection, and motocross gloves tend to hold up longer, and cost a little less, than normal mountain bike gloves. And more padding too.:p

The gloves I just bought on friday.
They are for crotch rockets, but every pair of motocross and mtn biking gloves I have ever had, have taken a dump in no time. But when I was till able to ride a sport bike, they lasted through everything. So, I figgued what the hell, a glove is a glove... these are just beefier.
