For the past few weeks ive been riding without a helmet because I left it somewhere, well today was the first time ive worn it in a while. Well I was trying to gap to front up this rock and didnt make it and hit the edge. Next thing I know my head slams into the corner of the rock. I came out ok other than some hurt fingers and a small headache but I cracked my helmet in half. I dont think ill ever ride with out a helmet again. Just goes to show how important being prepared can be even when just screwing around.

It saved me three times from getting the death penalty. One time though I hit my cheek and bruised my chin...the helmet really helps in those angles :momaru:

I hit a no-parking sign at speed once with my helmet. I was looking back to see if I could cross the street and bam... I think the sign would have dug in deep into the head.

I dont know if you wanted this to be a helmet story thread, but I was practicing ups to a rock near a tree once and the rock was at a bit of an angle. I up'd to it with too much of a lean the wrong way, tire slid out and forward throwing me back a bit, I strong-armed the rock so I didnt slam into it but a branch of the tree, partially broken, found its pointy way into the foam of my helmet. I wonder if I would have been a limp shish kabob lying there for someone to find me if I hadnt been wearing a helmet.

It was an old Bell helmet, I was glad it took a hit so I could pick up a Giro.

Its good to see alot of the community is pro hlmet, aS FAR as pics go I threw it awqy already. and its hard to type with aq splint on your finger and beer. since ive bwen riding this has been the first serious close call and it really opened up my eyes to being safe while rieding.

I was racing BMX with my MTB helmet, well, practicing, and my friend just took me out, and I fell about 6' onto my head. Helmet was goooooooooone, but I was ok. Now I have a 'Do NOT remove in case of paralysis' sticker on my full face. if I'm just riding out in my yard, I don't wear a helmet.

I find that I'm much more likely to wear my helmet( I wear it all the time now ) if I go and shop around and get a helmet that both fits me and that I like.

Its something that goes on your head for protection and its worth spending a bit more money on.

A good helmet will do more for you than weight shaving or spending your money on awesome parts.

This from a guy thats knocked himself out a few times.

How bout this, anything on rocks, or anything over bar height, I will wear a helmet for.

Pickup trucks do not count as they are neighter rocky or higher than a bar usually.
