i think i have found the answer to my chain tension questions and would like to share it with you.

the rohloff chain tensioner. it's like a derailleur without the derailleur and it stay's nicely tuckt under the frame.

i had to file the hanger abit to keep the arm from hanging down too far. had to put a big fat roller on it ofcourse.

slipped off a wall testing it and this baby did it's job = stay OUT OF THE WAY and INTACT.

it's embarrassing how many tensioners and hangers i have broken in the past.
i also have the rennen rollenlager and it was the next best thing but has to be tightend now and then. i think this is a winner. :bigthumb:

nice, it does look nice and out of the way. Do you have a wider shot?

can anyone tell me how i know when i have too much tension? that spring is bomb hard.

press down on the top of the chain, if it can move 10mm from where you press it (firmly), it's not too tight.

my derailleur hangs down quite far so maybe I should switch to one of those

The jockey wheels looks a bit vulnerable there though.

totally out of the way! wow man got my first 1 meter sidehop today (standing on two wheels and no pedalkick) and took chunks and chunks of wood home with me ;) the jockey wheels where not touched at all. the stopping screw toward the back and under the hanger screw landed on the surface first and slipped off every time. i landed on it pretty hard a few times and the hanger is not even bent.
notice the first jockey wheel is perfectly paralell to the rear cog it would require an extremely awkward position to hit it.

it is amazing what you can do (or me) when your mind is free. i learned pretty fast but side hops took me forever cause i was so tired of breaking shit so i broke much more shit out of lack of security.

today was a good side hop day even thogh it was only a meter ;) im getten there guys!

the mind game of trials

awkward position meaning: front tyre down while rear up on a higher object and rear slipping off, could danger the first jockey wheel if you where very close to the edge. the jockey wheels are fairly close to the spokes.

a few pics after a day of abuse on wooden surfaces.
im wondering how it will look after a good urban session :noes:

I was wondering if you have to run any half links with this set up? I use the Rennen tensioner right now, and I have to use a half link. Do these cost more than the Rennen?

@music_maj_34 (member.php?u=5329): both tensioners cost exactly the same and the rohloff requires no halflink.
