Broken toe/sketchy drivetrain

Well I was out having a fun ride today, and I was just pulling up to rear and as I go to kick up, the chain skips, and the cahin falls off the front chainring. My toe bashes into my tire, and I'm 90% sure its broken, and it's swollen as hell, and everything under my nail is blacker than night. Moral of the story, don't run sketchy/old/bent up/shitty chainrings, as it will hurt. I guess we all knew that, but now I know first hand :weak:.

i've hit my toe pretty bad before, a 10kg steel bar fell onto it at work.

I also got served when i was doing a frontwheel gap in my driveway in thongs and the strappy bit broke!! Needless to say i rammed my big toe right into concrete

You may have just pulled up the nail from the nail bed. I broke my big toe and tore up the nail bed all at once while riding a few years ago, and the nail part hurt way more than the break. Keep an eye on it and definitely get it checked out by a good podiatrist. I went to the ER and they screwed up my nail bed and now it won't grow back 'normal'.

Yeah, nail stuff equals pain. I had dropped something on my big toe a few years ago and most of the nail died. So it was hanging off and bugging the shit out me, so I decided to get rid of it, with a pair of pliers. One of my worst ideas ever.

Heh, I chipped a bit off of my toe riding like two years ago. So a little bit of bone was just sorta floating in there. My toe makes a loud clicking noise if I bend it still. Hurts a little bit after a long day of riding, running or walking.

if i could find my camera i would take a pic of my toe.
i did a demo on march 18th and then went to a skate park afterwards to ride with a mate...i went to do a pedal up and my foot decided it was a good idea to slip off the pedal and kick the wall.
it was the big toe on my left foot and still to this day the toe nail is black (well half of it is...the inside half closest to my other toes is black and the other side is normal).
im beginning to wonder if it will stay this way forever...i dont care if it does as it dont hurt but meh, its ugly.

on the topic of to nails i was drunk in the back a of a car once and the guy driving slammed on the brakes cuz someone cut him off...foot slid under the front seat and hit one of the rails the seats slide on...cut right across my pinki toenail...and boy did that suck and then it also got the cutical and it grows back now...but man im glad i was drunk cuz im sure i woulda cried from the pain.

While doing a little downhilling a few years ago, I had a rock kick up from my front tire, at about 40-45 mph, and broke the 3 biggest toes on my right foot. Ruined a perfectly good ride, really quick.

I hope yours heal fast.

i shattered my toes once when i was speedway racing (www.speedwaybikes.com) by drifting into the fence. you never think toes can hurt so much untill you brake a few.

OK so I got pissed off at my drivetrain and took off my deraileur and it turns out I have a magic gear. Who knew? Anyways it's still really sketchy because everything is bent. At one point my chain is too tight, and at one piont too slack, which doesn't make sense assuming everything is straight. On the bright side, my birthday tomorrow, new drivetrain here I come.

Also, my toe doesn't hurt nearly as much anymore.
