I NEED VOTES!

Ok so here's the story. For those of you who watch a lot of TV, particularly USA network (for those of us in the states) they are putting on a contest called "Show Us Your Character." So I thought, what the hell, why not post a video of me riding trials, and maybe a few people will stumble across it and spark a bit more interest in the sport. But apparently they really liked my short video and I'm in the top 30 finalists, and if I get enough votes I can win $1,000, which would help me very much in getting to all the competitions I want to go to this summer. Voting for me also might show the judges that there is such an interest that I could win the grand prize which is my own TV commercial and TV series featuring trials! Winning this contest could be extremely good for trials in general getting more of an interest in the sport, more people trying the sport out, trials shops selling more bikes, OTN getting more subscribers, and possibly more companies producing trials products which could lower the prices for all trials things. I know I don't represent the best in the sport of trials in the US, but if I win this contest I would do my best to be sure that trials gets a good name and people can find out what it is really about.

All you need to do is go here : http://contest.usanetwork.com/portal/finalists.html and find my video (watch it if you like) the title reads "Trials rider, Sacramento, CA" (When I go to the site its at the bottom middle), and vote for me by entering you first name/sex/birth date/ and e-mail to vote for me. I understand if you do not want to enter in your personal info but any and all votes are very much appreciated.

I would like to quickly thank Jon T. (TTownJon), Alex M. (Digby), Neil S., and Justin B. for filming the clips in the video.

I don't know. It seems as though there are quite a few people who visit the site that enjoy the "comedians" one of them is a semi-professional. Unfortunately my video doesn't have any sound because I thought I was only allowed to enter with certain music in the background so mine is completely silent. I think it puts me at a slight disadvantage that I wasn't able to say why I'm a character but I never would have guessed I would have made the top 30 so I didn't think it was important. Some guy (sword guy) said he received a few hundred e-mails from people who voted for him but I kind of doubt that he got quite that many as I have not gotten a single one. Maybe non trials riders just don't like my video :( . Some guy says that trials isn't original and shouldn't have made the top 30 but I wonder how many trials riders he has seen in his lifetime....

Over here in the UK we have a "BBC Sportsman of the Year" competition that usually sees the outright favourite being pipped by a community uprising from one sport. For the official result, they cheekily dismiss these candidates - hardly democratic! Plenty of emails go around the Universities or communities of smaller sports and the votes come flooding in aiming for an upset to the shoe-in result!

I think that one year the rightful winner was a fisherman not the rugby world cup winner/ olympic medal winner, and another it was a gay footballer rather than the more acclaimed eventual recepient.

No reason why we can't win this for you! I should be able to get you mentioned on some other forums around the world too :)

Well. Now that it is past the 18th I can tell all of you how I did in the contest. I won second prize which is cool I guess because I have a video Ipod in the mail, but I'm embarrassed to see who I lost to. Its taking all my energy to not shoot myself in the face but oh well. I am just glad they chose me at all because I had no idea that I would be put in the top 30.
