my mother was recently lamenting the fact that basic grammar, spelling and writing are no longer taught in schools. I guess there's only so much blame one can heap on the kids themselves. I never understood how they can fail to pick up ANYTHING about spelling or punctuation from simply reading though. Perhaps they don't read?

you need to read books dude. Seriously kids have no patience or imagination these days because they don't read books. It will help your vocabulary, spelling and grammar infinitely as well. Even just Harry Potter books, or the Riftwar saga by Raymond E Feist (starting with Magician) or the timeless Roald Dahl, or C.S. Lewis, or anything.
These are all really incredibly entertaining and easy to read authors and will draw you in in a way you can't imagine if you've never been hooked on a book. That's my suggestion of the day, for the youth of today.

Yeah read books and also take the forum as an oppurtunity to learn how to spell. I sucked at spelling a while ago too. Now when I don't know how to spell a word exactly right, I first sound it out and spell it, and then I double check with microsoft word. Perfect way of learning. Helped me.

thankyou for all of your advise could you all do me a favour can you help red bunny get world domination plez
First of all I really appreciate that youve posted the thread to explain about your spelling.
Second, no I wont help the red bunny.
Third, try typing your responses into MS word then spell checking them. This will improve your spelling and make your posts more readable for everyone.
Although it doesnt give you an excuse, I commend you for trying.

PC's don't highlight misspellings globally? I actually thought OSX copied that from Windows.

what person spells worse than me
is english not your native language?
as far as english in school.. it sucked.. it was taught but most of the concentration was on is this word an adjetive or some crap im never going to use again..
they worry too much about getting the specifics and just assume you got the basics.. oh well...
as far as typing that badly, unless you just learned english 6 months ago.. you should at least be able to read through what you just typed and say to yourself "you dont spell been 'benn'" stuff like that.
some of your mistakes are really horrific.. i am curious to know how old you are and if you are not a native english speaker?

Does he even go to school? How does he manage to comprehend his textbooks if he does? Many many questions.
