Well i just got my new echo rim built on a tryall locked hub and i have a surly cog on the back........there's a lot of movement when the cog is on, i'm guessing that's why everything keeps skipping. It may be the chainline but i tried moving positions, it must the the cog. Anyone have this problem with the hub or Surly cogs? If so what can i do about it?

thanks dude.

Looks to me like Surly just did a shitty job, there's just way too much play on the hub. When you are moving along all that play and movement causes the chain to skip.

This is my thesis. i'm going to buy a cheap 16tooth cog i guess............

there's another thread in the australia regional forum called "surly shit".

I didn't have a problem with mine on my XC bike but...you know. I wouldn't run another one now.

i have only seen problems with certian sizes of the surly cog. i know that the 17t is total crap but the 14,15,18t are gold

what kind of movement??

movement back and forth, like the cog is too big for the hub. When i put the spacers and screw it on it's not moving side to side.
