Hi, I'm very new to the sport and don't know a whole lot about it. I'm just looking for a decent bike to start off with, looking to spend 300-400 USD. I think I'd like a stock bike opposed to a mod. Which one is easier to start off with? Thanks.

they are both fine to start off with just different feelings... i started with a mod cause i thought it would be easier but it was probobly working against me because im really tall then i had to make the change to a stock down the road.. i would jus t choose the one you want now and stick with it
but if youre only willing to spend 400 you wont be finding a complete stock bike anytime soon

Might not be what you want but it is complete and in your price range.

good luck finding a decent complete bike for 300-400. A frame maybe.
I've heard mods are easier to learn on, but I agree with Ryan, just pick what you really want to ride. You'll learn no matter what kind of bike you have.

You just have to wait a little while maybe and then you can find a 400 dollar setup. Don't worry they are out there.

Yeah, I am also really tall and I thought the bigger bike would be more comfortable to ride. If $400 is too little for a decent beginners bike, how much money do u think I'd need to spend?

How tall are you? 700 dollars will open up the market. That might be a little much for a beginner to spend.:eek3:

I started on a Specialized Hardrock 15" frame, RST shocks, crap brakes, and garbage rims/hubs.
I didnt really decide to ride trials until I realized that I had the "knack" for it per se. Even to this day I dont ride a trials specific bike. I found myself a bike that had about the same geomotry, but could also take a monster beating from stair gaps, big hits, and dirt jumping.
From what I have read and learned about trials, is you can learn the fundamentals on just about anything. You just need to stick with it, and keep practicing. I spend a good few hours per day always working on new skills, and progressing my balance.

I'm about 6'4" or 193 cm. yeah 700 is alittle steep for me. Hrm maybe I'll start off with a cheaper mod.

Don't get a mod. You will be so unconfortable on it. Keep looking on this site and others and you will find something. If you have a Mountain bike ride that for now and get your ballance skills up to par.

hah. hell yea. thats what i started on.
ID GO WITH A MOD. ive been riding mod for some time now and i dnt really practice alot but when i do, i practiced pretty hard, and having a mod just seemed alot easier maybe because of how small it is and easy(easier) to get up on the back wheel which now comes very easy. my bro had a 26" brisa when i was ridin around on a monty x alp, and getting on his stock bike felt alot different compared to the monty. which by the way, is a great begginer bike to start out with, many will tell u the same. and not all that expensive.

I can't tell you the model name, I forget really. I am at school now and I haven't seen the bike in awhile, but it's a dual suspension mt. bike. It's an older K2, but one of the weird models that has K2 and Proflex on the frame. I think proflex was being bought out or something, but don't take my word for it. It was fun to ride around at home, but there's not really any hills where I am now....so I left it behind :(

Just about any trials bike, stock or mod, is gonna feel better on the back wheel than a brisa.

I told you I snapped the rear suspension right? That sucked because they didn't make the parts anymore. PJ helped me rebuild it.

Ok so I have most of a bike now....I still need a bashguard, rear cassette, and chainring. So if anybody has extras that they can part with please let me know.
Oh yeah, I need wheels too, I was going to buy them from pricepoint.com but the ones I was going to get are backordered, so if anybody has some extras...
Thanks

I believe that a four bolt one big enough to cover a 22t chainring. I'm new at this stuff, what other options are there about bashguards?

I used to ride those forks on a Zed-X back when I was a weee laddy in high school going from BMX over to Mtn. I loved those forks, just becuase of the complete crazyness look.
They held true for a number of years till the frame snapped on that Zed-X
