Its time for me to get away from my Hayes Disks in the rear because I keep destroying rotors; its getting very upsetting having to remove my rear brake just so I can ride to some degree.

But, as I'm looking at Magura's website I really dont understand the diffrence between the HS33 and the HS11. Other than a diffrent brake lever and the brackets seem to be diffrent color/ material.

So, I'm wondering which set up is more commonly used for trials, since I am a lone trials rider, and dont have anyone to learn this shit from. Since it took me destroying countless deralluar hangers, rear deralluars, and brake rotors before I figgured out why you guys typically stick to single speed, and Magura's on the rear.
You see, I'm a little slow.

HS33 has 14mm Piston size, its smaller on the hs-11. or is it the master size. i forget. anyways hs11=no power.

Yeah you don't want an HS-11, they blow. HS-33.

i have the hs33's and they feel the same as my friends hs11's and he hasnt had anycomplains other then getting a new lever when he smashed the shit out of his old one (litteraly it was toast).

go with the hs33's. the lever makes all the difference. and if you do go with the hs11's for what ever reason get a new lever blade with a tpa.

Good, thanks guys.
Anyway, I destroy just about everything when I ride, its just the nautre in which I ride. I made the mistake in buying a dirt jumper frame when I knew I was focusing more on the trials aspect. Now I regret my decision, and am in need of a frame.

check out for sale section, their is a few frames for sale right now. and do a search to figure out what size frame fits you best.

not really, i ran the evo mounts for about 2 years? they were difficult the first time setting up, after that its actually really easy.

Honestly i don't see any difference other than the levers. So, i guess its just the levers. I have HS33s, and my friend has HS22s and HS11s, and they all look the same to me.

well that's because you can't see whats inside the brakes, can you?

Actually there is no difference other than the lever.

hs11s for life! they are soo good! The extra lever length makes the brake harder!

you're confusing the poor kid. HS-11 = meant for XC. HS-33 = meant for trials.

Just put it this way, if you want the ground to become good friends with your ass, use HS-11. If you want to have a good brake which you can rely on, use HS-33. Simple as that, you make the decision. :dunno:

ok, the piston in the lever is all the difference, the smaller it is the more power u get and by 1 mm u get tons and tons of power because with the lever u push less liquid and it is like moving a spoon and mooving a shovle the less weight u move the easyer it is for u to move-it and the hs 11 has the same slave cilinders, the same pads the same evrything with hs-33 only the hs-33 has a 14 mm master cilinder while the hs-11 has a 16 mm, i used hs 11 on the front with black pads, and i went back to v-brake just because it`s a lot easyear to set up and has more power with less modulation, on the front u can use a hs-11 but use good pads, on the back go for hs-33
edit: i hope i atleast get a rep point for this :)):P

Yes of course....
Modulate....mod-u-late; great word.
Well, when the time does come, and I get a new frame; the HS-33's are going to be the ones I buy.
Modulate!

the hs-33 with zoo pads, or koxx or whateva has more bite than modulation at least mine with zoo has the greatest bite and with a litle tar it works awesome

Here is a question one of you pointdexters could answer... why do they even make a brake with bigger master cylinder if that gives less power? It can't be cheaper to make a 16mm cylinder than a 14mm one, or can it?
If someone says they're for "normal riding" people who don't want too much power then I think it's just stupid...

on xc you want to modulate your brake, i know people who love the hs-22/11 just because they have excelent modulation, less flex and not so much power, they are lighter also because plastic or whateva their made of, so their designed for xc/tour and evrything u want, when you are cruising on a road u like to have a light bike and modulation to stop progresivley not stoppie or endo or draging your back wheel on the road....
p.s: i`m not a f pointdexter or whatever that means i just know a lot about magura because i like fixing my bike, i hate when somoene else mendles with it :P

meddles with it you mean.

yes i understand about the master cylinder size.

so basically its all in the levers right? Since the master cylinder is in the levers as well, so supposing i have a set of hs11, i just change the levers and i'm good to go?

just supposing, i dont have hs11/hs22, my friend does.

i had hs11's then i broke both of them like the plastic bits just snapped so they are weak have no power and because hs33 have a better lever u get more power and they have the adjusters which means u have a fair bit of adjustment so yeh hs33 all the way
