:nono: That's because you have to run water and antifreeze in this brake for it to work properly. FYI Gilles also uses this brake on his new MBK. It's the most versatile and adjustable hydro brake. I have two of them at home, they work perfectly.

so like oil is bad for this brake.. I think not. my friend had them and they bled more than anything in Die hard movies

Could You explain more clearly please ?

Are You talking to replace Magura Blood by mixture of water and anrifreeze ?

I wouldn't recommend running water in a discbrake - fortunately JK was joking.

Absolutely not joking. This info is from Dave Butler (Danny's dad). This isn't DH, heat generation is minimal. The water/antifreeze is to prevent lever pump.

Personally, I recommend running only water in this brake, as it does have a tendency to leak after a while. If you run oil it will get contaminated after a while and you'll be sad.

I used those brakes front and rear and they rocked. Bone stock setup. The lockup was amazing and the plus was you could adjust when the pads hit with an allen key on the actual pads. For trials it is the ideal setup by far. For those familiar with Avid cable brakes, it was the same way to setup as that basically.

Everyone who says these brakes suck because of pumping up needs to shut the fuck up already. It would be as ridiculous as me coming on here and saying every other brake sucks because they don't pump up. You just get used to one thing or the other. I rode Magura disks for a few years so I was in shock when I stopped and the pump was gone. It was the same feeling you get when you first try Maguras, all it is was something different. You don't like the feeling fine, keep it at that.

those brakes did lock very well, and the adjustability was good.

majority of the riders will probably find the lever pump annoying. when i gap to a front wheel manual i pump my levers a lot to adjust the height of the rear wheel, i guess the brakes would be annoying for this move.

technically anyone could get used to anything. brett you could ride a uci bike for street, i've seen it done.

Brett, are you trying to say that lever pump is 'the feel' of magura discs? lever pump is a problem that needs to be solved, not the feel of a brand of disc brakes.

You actually almost quoted my argument quite well with the riding a uci bike for street analogy.

It seems kids 5 foot 6 can look awkward as fuck on a bike with an 1100 wb and a + 3 inch bb height and get used to that, but god forbid when they pull their lever twice the second time it is an eighth of an inch farther away from the bar as the first time. I'm sure you could never ever get used to something so crazy as that.

Its really not a big deal and like I mentioned above I was choked that my brakes had no pump after I got rid of the Magura's. The exact same circumstances you wouldn't want Magura's because of the pump, I didn't want another brand of brake because they didn't have the pump.

Lever pump is only a problem if you think it is. I don't know how I can be any clearer but after using Magura's for a long time I would have liked to find a way to have pump in my Avid cable disk brakes. It was just something I was used to.

All I'm trying to say is to be a little clearer when talking aboots them. Pump is an issue that goes both way completely evenly. You can like or or not, that is cool. It doesn't mean it is a bad brake if you don't tho. I personally don't like + 3 inch bb heights. Does that make a bike with one bad? God no. Its just bad for me. I'm sure its good for tons of others tho.

haha! yeah! tahts true.. hope's brake levers is designed quite bad.

I've heard the monty team also had those problems.

They already run magura in the rear though, so why wouldn't they be in contract to run a front magura?

because they have a priority to run their own product

wtf is with knees and this brake?

I think he would be talking about the cylinder section at the lever hitting his knees? It happens to me.
