I mashed in the disc mounts on my rear hub from an awquard poking out rock so I understand why you would create the protector.

here is a link to the latest pictures of the whole bike i have (from last summer)
http://www.observedtrials.net/vb/showthread.php?t=15930&highlight=echo+nothin
I hit the hub off a rock this summer. i didn't hit it hard, and it's not a very big ding, but i'd like to avoid that at all. and the ninjastar looks cool.
i cut it with a hack-saw and then cleaned it up with a bench grinder.
EDIT: Ninja Star has it's own thread - http://www.observedtrials.net/vb/showthread.php?t=19349

I've got two smashed discs, and I'd like make a hub protector like yours with one of them. Please let me know how you did it!!! I'm guessing bandsaw and grinding wheel, but any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: i'm a tool, and just found your info on how you made it. My bad, sorry for the second post...

it's a waste to do that to a brand new rotor =/ looks smart though, I've smashed the disk-mounts on an onld hub i had, so i guess thats a clever thing to do.
