I have the Echo old model with the ring and I was thinking to buy the new 2005 but I don't know if it's better or not.
I heard of someone that broke the thread of the 2004. I'm a skinny person and I don't think I can put so much force to break the thread but who knows...

Anyone had problems with the Echo 2004 model or the 2005 ??

I have the 05's. Over 6 problem free months.

i would say stay away from those echo cranks and go with the Zoo, BT, or Try-All cranks.

almost two years on the '04's with no problem, however you might not want square taper

I'm using the O5's black Square Taper and I don't have any probs with them... Had them since last summer

Interesting fact, those black ones are old. Your cranks are even older. The newer CNC'd (the older ones are forged, right?) ones are meant to be loads better, obviously cost more. Can get them in weird colors.

I've been looking at those cranks aswell, might end up getting a pair. Some people are happy with them, some break them by just looking at them.

I think Echo needs way more QC.
