So what material are they made of and more importantly where can i get it.
I want to get some heatsink cnc'd backings and i'm clueless about what to use for the pad..Any suggestions?

I would suggest useing the heatsink replacement inserts :D

If you want to experiment, go to your xc shop and buy every color Magura has. Then go buy Plazmatics line, and then whatever else the fuck you want.

all trials brake pads that i know of are made from polyurethane. mcmaster is always a good starting point for materials ( www.mcmaster.com ). they don't do molding though, so if your material works really well and you want to sell it, you'll have to find a place that does do molding and then pretty much start the materials selection processs again.
