Site launch- flash player required, high resolution + broadband recommended.
Crest T-shirt available for sale, only $13 shipped in the US! Limited quantities!
This was more of a project for me to get familiar with flash, if there is enough demand I can make a 800x600 version...however I may simply work at a completely redesigned style, integrating flash into a normal site..but for now please enjoy this site :)
Comments on the pictures or site appreciated-
Cheers!

I'm looking into it all, probably tomorrow night...it seems to be a widespread issue with firefox and flash movies/shockwave. I will have much more time tomorrow with a fresh head to get down and see whats going on...sorry guys, didn't know about it as I've never used firefox. IE

Do you have the links as "clothing.htm" or "www.moment.../clothing.htm"?
Edit: it might also have to do with how you point to the flash file. MIME encoding or something of that sort.

crest shirts will most likely be being re-printed if there is enough demand...but right now there should be enough for a while.

Yo Andy, I'm a firefox user. My javacript is enabled, don't know what object tags are, and it didn't work by clicking the links on the opening page. I opened it in IE and it worked, and looked at the source, got the flash file and ran it in firefox and it worked.
maybe put the full URL in the param link like so:
<param value="http://www.momentdesigns.com/clothingsite.swf" name="movie">
instead of
<param value="clothingsite.swf" name="movie">.
The flash also looks nicer in IE, like the text renders nicer, which is strange. Good job though.

20% in Europe, ober20% in Germany... its getting really big

I have a few issues with the site. I think the color choice is so so and some letters are not fully rendered. (this is on Dell LCD with 1000:1 contrast ratio). The navigation is a bit dodgy like the old koxx site. Just offering some constructive criticism.

On a side note when coding sites it's always nice to meet W3C standads, as it helps resolve most issues.
I don't really quite understand why anyone would use firefox anyways? I'm old school.
1 - It's faster and can be made even faster for web browsing.
2 - Security issues are patched faster then Internet explorer.
3 - Tabbed browsing
4 - Amazing web extensions (All Peers, Forcast Fox, Web Developement Toolbar)
5 - Open Source
6 - Some people use Linux (I haven't used windows on my home PC in years and would never switch back)
--------------
If you really want to see how fast firefox can be try this modification.
1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 15.
3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0".

Could you let me know what letters aren't woring for you? What browser? Dell :hsugh: ... How is the navigation dodgy? aside from one page (team) its just click on thing and thats all.

Yeah I was refering to the team navigation. It seems that the letters are not characters but are pictures and they appear not as crips if they were a true text. (They look washed out and fuzzy) The reason why I mentioned that I had a Dell LCD, was because its the same thing as the apple cinema display so it can display things very sharply, and the blurred text stands out quite a bit.
I used IE by the way. Also on a slow computer (CPU wise) the site navigation is pretty sluggish.
AndyT
01-19-2006, 01:55 PM
werd its really slow on my 5 year old pc :hsugh:
morley
01-19-2006, 02:03 PM
The reason the site may appear slow is because flash has to perform complex calculations to display the animation. This may increase the computers load. Sites built with style sheets (css files) and aren't as graphic intensive tend to be the fastest.
So in the end you either love flash sites or you hate them. Typically graphics people seem to love them and use them more often. If you want to see a brutal and slugglish example of flash check out www.beatport.com

firefox is fine now, sorry for all the confusion...I had it going within 10 minutes of downloading firefox.
Pruned most of the posts about it, but I have one question: HOW DO YOU LOG OUT OF YOUR NAME IN FIREFOX!??! It is a wierd program, everything loads like it would when you had a 28.8 and AOL (the pictures load from the top down, and they show icons before its a real picture...hilarious looking...straight out of 1998). Also scrolling is very choppy and unsmooth, and it takes aton more memory to run than my IE does.
But it is faster, mainly because it doesn't wait to dl all the pictures before loading a site...is there a way to fix the things I don't like about it? Not being able to log out of my name on forums is a huge problem, It's probably something easy to check off or something.
also: firefox guys, if it is still a blank screen just hit shift + f5 to refresh and you should be good to go :)
sorry for the confusion, first orders of shirts have already been shipped :)

Did you install firefox 1.5? I've never found any problems with the logout on this site.
Also try using your scroll button when you click on a link.
Any issues or changes to firefox can usually be found witha quick google.
Cheers
AndyT
01-19-2006, 05:41 PM
yeah I installed 1.5, never goign to use it again unless its for checking site compatability. To get it to work normally I'd have to download like 5 different outside plugins or something, rediculous. Tabbed stuff is the main reason why I hate it though.
morley
01-19-2006, 05:49 PM
Personally I can't live without tabs, but to each their own.
I agree with you that the plugin issue is the shits, but on a few new computers it's starting to come pre installed with all the crap. I had the same problem with getting windows codecs when I installed linux on my home pc. On the bright side you can just type "apt-get install [progame name]" and it downloads and installs plugins so it's not that bad for other stuff.
AndyT
01-19-2006, 06:01 PM
werd to each their own, I'm too used to one thing to change it now....someone told me tabs will come with the next IE, I hope it doesn't f' with me :)

I'm with Morley on everything. I'm not a big fan of flash, love firefox and web standards. I'd prefer to see the site with aspects of flash, where it lends itself, myself, rather than pure flash when unnecessary. In fact, IMO, this site would function exactly the same with xhtml but load faster and look sharper. Navigation, text and images could all be done better, with less load times, using xhtml. Plus everything would be easier to update, way too many siters go into hibernation because people couldn't be arsed to bother with modifying shit too much.
Sweet pictures btw! Beautiful colours and composition. Also good to see some continuous shit. I'm going to play with my camera with some action for the first time today.

01-19-2006, 07:14 PM

Great looking site.
I don't like Firefox either, tabbed browsing is ok, pretty much copied from Microsoft & they are bringing it back on IE7 like someone mentioned. If it was more form friendly I'd use it at work...

copied? Tabbed browsing existed in OSS software a long time ago. (I saw it in a Gallion browser 4 years ago)
Yep Microsoft filed the patent I believe back in '97. Not sure why they got rid of it til now...one feature I like.

wow you are weird.
If by plug- ins you mean things like flash, shockwave and stuff, you have to do this on every browser the first time you install it
It is a wierd program, everything loads like it would when you had a 28.8 and AOL (the pictures load from the top down, and they show icons before its a real picture...hilarious looking...straight out of 1998).
well you call it weird, most people would call it usefull. The user sees that there are still pictures to load. if you open a page with 200 big pics on it, you have no idea how many pics are on this page with the IE, with firefox you know there are a shitload of them. It also shows a broken image icon when a pic doesnt work. So the user knows the pictar is fuxort
other featurs are :
buid in pop up blocker
usefull extensions .Look here for the most used extension https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/?application={ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384} (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/?application=%7Bec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384%7D)
seriously man, give it a shot. Use it one day and you will start to like it
If it was more form friendly I'd use it at work...

em yeah andy what you mean by "IHOW DO YOU LOG OUT OF YOUR NAME IN FIREFOX"?
I click on "log out" on this site, it says are you sure? I say yes, then I'm still logged out. Erase cookies, do it again- erase cookies, close it, restart computer...still logged in as andy T :(
wow you are weird.
If by plug- ins you mean things like flash, shockwave and stuff, you have to do this on every browser the first time you install it
I mean things like the scroll wizard which makes scrolling smooth and normal...basically in firefox it takes 20 scrolls to get to the bottom of a page and in IE it takes 2-3, I scroll all the time its my lifeline :). To install the program you have to first find it, then download, then extract into a certain firefox folder and install it or something I couldn't be bothered with.
It would be usefull if I had a slow computer which wouldn't load pictures fast but when the picture loads an instand after a silly looking icon pops up it just makes the web a little more amateurishlooking...just not for me :) I've used mozilla back in the day, along with netscape as I used to hate IE (this is 10 years ago) but for these days I'm just too used to it right now. If I had started on firefox years ago I wouldn't be this way, but thats not the point of this thread...let's try to keep the discussion about my site for now :)
(remember, I'm the guy who runs the silly looking XP skin instead of the more "efficient" old school looking one! )

I just think the tabbed browsing + usefull extensions make firefox much more efficient
you can change the scroll speed in windows + smooth scrolling in the firefox settings btw

Pricing of the UK is still up in the air right now, but it will be sorted within a month or so (before I go to koxx days)....I could send a shirt to you, but it is 9 dollars to ship a small envelope the size that I use for sending shirts to the UK so its kind of crazy (thats like 80% of the cost of the shirt alone!).
Tarty bikes will be the supplier in the UK, so keep your eyes peeled in the next few months...
Kyle- thanks..an integrated site is planned for the expansion of products and team members in the future :) flash/some sort of html (not sure what yet)..
