I am riding a Brisa fork and I am looking for a front disc brake that wont get in the way, any ideas?
Cash may be an issue, so under $200 would make my day.

nice av.
um, do you want a small caliper or a small rotor? Smallest calipers would be the single piston hydros from hope (mini, mono mini, mono trials), magura (louise, marta) or formula (don't know). Smallest rotor on the front is 160mm.

160mm is standard and thats what you get for that money
Ive heard hope makes some more exclusive 140mm rotorz.. and Im sure you can order any rotor size you want from them.. any pattern.. anything!! Its crazy
have a look (http://www.hopetech.com/products/products_index.htm)
then -> personalized rotor order (at the bottom of the page)

140mm rotors will fit on a rear ISO mount but not a front.

i think that if you hit your 160 rotor you wil probley hit the bigger rotors as well. Its kinda rare to have a situation where a few mm would save a rotor as far as clearance goes. I think the power would make up for that small possibilty.

best going for the hope brakes they are small in caliper and rotor size and work very well most of the time:P

If you want to keep it small and simple, get an Avid BB7 160mm. Don't bother with anything smaller, as Joel said, it won't work.

I know 83mm and 75mm exists just can't remember what company
Extralite F1 X-Link V 3.0 (83mm front, 75mm rear, Disc) proof is on light bikes
i love my Marta SL, its insanely powerful and has incredible locking power.. Pretty small and light too...
I guess you're having a problem with your Advid caliper hitting your spokes.
What hub are you running? You can go to an 8 inch rotor which should help.
You will have to shave down your adaptor and space out your disc rotor.
Edit: An old school 6 inch louise should fit no problem.

i guess the general consensus is to get a powerful 160mm rotor...but you know you could have gotten a Vee fork and never have to worry.
except that v-brakes don't touch disc brakes?

I guess you haven't seen Felix and many others rock with rim brakes on the front. It would suck for urban though as wear due a grind would be high.
If you get Avid BB7 then you can replace rotors with Aztec ones for $15~20 depending on the size.

Correct you are. There were some Orbea crit bikes floating around last summer that had what looked like 80mm or so aluminum disks (stan's maybe?) with avid road calipers. The "disk mount" was integrated into the dropout somehows. Pretty sick setup - the rims were dope too - lightweight road rims without any vertical part for brake track, and modified XTR centerlock hubs.

i think for those brakes to work well they have to mount one on each side of the scooters wheel. based on this it would be great for trials.
