The Hope Trial brake is the sweetest thing ever. Super strong. Spendy, but worth it.

My mate Damien (Hooha on here) has the 190mm TryAll brake and it is even better than my Mono Trial.....

Yeah if you can afford one get one

they are sweet until they leak (if they leak) but if you know stuff about brakes you can fix them and they are awesome again.

i tried a 6" one it was pretty grabby
my avid 203mm bb7 is still grabbier though. and its wallet friendly

I only just realised, I should have got you an adapter and got the rotor cut another 20mm bigger :coold:

So what about one on the rear then. Every hydro seems to leak... is the hope trials disc any different? Or is it only good for the front. I've seen a few pros with them, but that doesn't really mean anything in terms of durrability.

the monty guys ran them all year- i know they ran into a couple problems. kind of to be expected with those dudes pounding them as hard as they were. i dont think you are any more likely to have the try-all/hope leak on you than any other disk out there. considering its performance i would say it's the best option out there for a rear disk. speaking of which, do they even make a rear trials caliper? i guess you could adaptor it out if they dont.

Yes, i beileve they do make a rear trials caliper. You can definatly buy the mono trials as a f/r set.

BEST BRAKE EVER, if you have the money definatly invest, if not avid 185mm xtr lever and good housing is the only way.

i have two hope try-alls and they are the rok.

how long have you had them? have they ever leaked? and if they did could i just buy a new seal or whatever?

I sure am glad Elan sold his... i've loved it ever since. I had to try one and didn't think it could get better than my Avid mech... wrong. All the power the avid had with EBC gold pads but much much better feel and modulation. This coming from running the Avid 160mm, 180, and 203 and now being on the Tryall with a 160 Avid rotor. Comparable power to the 203 no doubt and without sacrificing the modulation.

If you have the means.. I highly recommend picking one up. Soo choice.

im pretty sure i had the first or one of the first in the states. and that one got soo beat up from falling on it and everythign and its still solid. needs to be bled beucase i took it apart to fix the lever after i fell on it, but it will still work mint.

i got it last year at this time.

Ive been running one about a month....160mm rotor....Definately the ducks guts.:yum:
Here are some ive tried...
Avid bb7-203,185......no modulation:(
Avid Juicy 5,7-203,185....leaked around pistons:wtc:
Shimano Saint,XT,XTR-203,185..Saint w/203 was the only one strong enough
Magura Marta,SL-185,160..impressive power for the weight but, leaks w/time
I wont list all the hayes i tried back in the day.:squint:

Hey all,

Time to rebuild inventory after Christmas. Going to be doing a Koxx/Tryall order shortly. Let me know what you might want in disc brakes.

hello?

anyone ever thought of trying one of those 6 piston brakes?
i think its 6 pistons.
im sure it would be heavy but i was just wondering what the power with one of those was like?

More pistons in current bicycle brakes is a design to increase modulation and heat dissipation. This is not good for trials. One big piston is the way to go = Try-All / Hope Trial.

Correct me if Im wrong, but isnt the try all brake exactly the same as the normal hope mono trial except is silver and comes with a different disc??

e.g. Doesnt perform any different, just looks different?

I've tried that on Brad's bike,... it's okay,.. but it falls off pretty bad. It doesn't have true lock-up power.
