Here's some clips I took over the year of some places around the area. The quality is poor, but it's at least something.
There really is very little to ride in florida, so when I do find something it is great, no matter what it is.
i don't know if anyone has any expectations, but basically this is a little weekend riding that I try to fit in if i am not too tired from the show, which i usually am.
I am pretty conservative, but I have fun all the same.
Riding is still fun even after 1000 shows in 2 years. I can't believe it. :D

Craziness.... anyway, those were some mega bunnyhops. Was awesome to see. Thanks for sharing.
Great riding, although I'm going to pretend I didn't see you go to bash on the green box :hsugh:. That bunnyhop to the hugeass box made up for it nicely though.:)

Nice riding Lance. Glad to see that at least a few of the old school pros are still riding trials.
Edit: I noticed that your bars looked a little narrow. Is that just how you like to ride them now?

Yes, that one shot is a painted show bike. I was breaking in a new bike and was riding in the warm up area.
I went to bash on the green box first, but then i hit it to rubber. I was trying to build suspense.:bigthumb:
Basically that footage is me trying to ride, not get hurt, and have fun, in that order. I am old school, but I am out there all the same. I don't have the best trials style, but I think that is what keeps me interested. Trials has to be one of the most difficult forms of riding. I like challenges.
My bars are 27". I haven't gotten used to anything wider. On cannondale I was riding 26". 27" feels wide to me, but I know they should be wider. But I don't want to bother changing. I can ride fine with what I have. But maybe one day.
NJ is coming up soon. To all on the East coast, prepare to be Cirque-um-cised! (I just came up with that now):naughty:

Thanks for the comments guys.
I'm 28 now and have been riding mtb/trials for about 11 years now. I will have to say the sport and equipment has really progressed in my time. It is unreal what riders can do now on the new bikes and in such a short time.
I am trying hard to take advantage of the new technology, but it isn't as easy as I thought it would be. I guess old habits die hard. But I am enjoying the sport and hopefully having a positive effect on the people that see the show. Everything after that is just icing on the proverbial cake.
But this site and all the riders really makes trials so much easier to participate in. When I went to the world championships in 2002 or something, I had never even seen the top guys like Bruno Arnold and Marc Vinco ride. I know so much more than I did back then about the sport and I think I have improved as well.
So keep up the riding guys and enjoy.

Fun stuff. On another note:
No offense, but if you're placing "not hurting yourself" at a priority, I'd expect to see a helmet. I'm guessing you've gone 11 years without hitting your head, but it only takes once....

Very nice video. How are the HONE cranks holding up?
What is the reason behind no helmet?

Clean.Thanks.....what he said, about the helmet....mmmmmm......yaaah.
1000 in three years, thats like 3 a day, Damn.
You get paid to ride bicycletta's, and for that, you are the man.
Cool to see some burly bunnyhops....Ive sworn them off until i get hooks better.
Peace

Maybe the only helmet he has it the one he wears at the show.... which obviously would be brightly coloured and have all sorts of gay materials and feathers coming off of it which would only be appropriate to wear in the show :momaru:
Cmon tell me im right :)

The helmet thing is a touchy subject, I know.
My main concern for injury, based on my experience of riding trials, is twisting ankles, banging knees or hitting shins. I have my knee shin pads on and my high top shoes laced up tight. But it is true that I don't wear a helmet for trials riding as often as for other forms of cycling and I probably should.
For street, park or dirt jump I always do. It just seems that when I go to ride trials it doesn't cross my mind. It could be based on experience, but you are all correct that it only takes one time to create a disaster.
Wear your helmet, that's all I can say.:sadwavey:

Im kinda the same way. I'm confident enough in my ability and experience, yet don't (usually) push myself so hard that I feel I need a helmet for trials.
Edit: I'm sure that'll get some interesting responses, but its kinda true. Its funny too, cause only now is it acceptable and encouraged to wear helmets in sports like snowboarding or skiing, which are (arguably) much more dangerous than trials.

You can't hurt/lose what you don't have.
It is great to see you still riding Lance. I got burnt somewhere around 120 comps and 300 shows in 6 years so your motivation is something to be desired at your old age. I had to take a break...Glad you didt have to...it sucks trying to regain what you lose in the "break"

As far as motivation goes, having a good job that involves riding and access to the latest and greatest new frames and parts helps a lot.
In a show related comment, I do wear a helmet every night in the performance. But it is a little funny to consider that the other artists are doing crazy triple flips on trampoline, walking on a highwire 50 feet in the air and doing backflips while on the wire!!! balancing on one hand on the corner of a 30 foot high stack of chairs, flying through the air over a 70 foot span doing flips and twists in the trapeze...and I am riding bicycle trials and am the only one wearing any type of protective gear.
I guess the only sense I can make out of that is of all those athletic activities, riding a bicycle is the only one that a kid could go right out and try after seeing the show. That and the audience is part of the most litigious society in the history of the human race.
Either way, wear your helmet.

The cranks are actually saint. they are heavy, but they don't flex at all, they haven't broken or bent, and they fit on my HIFI with a 22 tooth chainring oldschool style, so I like them. bunnyhops for life.
