Does anyone here know if ground shipping from canada to the US takes a long time? A guy shipped a frame to me about a week and a half ago and it's not gotten here yet. Another friend told me that sometimes it takes 4-6 weeks to make it through customs to get to the US. UPS's sight doesn't tell me this when I put in both address's and try to calculate time.

generally 10-12 business days...thats with the postal service though. So im not sure who you used as a shipper.
Be patient...expect 3 weeks if its not there then start to worry and have the sender file a claim. No biggie

I used UPS. I think I'm going to call them and ask just to see if it will take a while.

10-12 days? Doubt it, not if it was sent ground.
If it was sent standard post it could take 4-6 weeks, or even more if it gets held up in customs. Even express post can take 2+ weeks.

i could be a long time. the easiest thing you might be able to do is forget about it and it will be there in no time but i know that might be hard. i bought a unicycle from a guy up there in canada and it took i think 5-6 weeks at the most. if it is UPS you should ask the people you bought it from for the shipping number and track the order off of the UPS website.

Oops, thought you said you used USPS.... disregard my last post. The only time I used UPS from the states it took about 2 weeks. I also ended up paying a a retarded amount in fee's. If it's UPS you should be able to get a tracking number though.

if its UPS you more then likely have a tracking number...and NO not 4-6 weeks. But expect to get ass raped with customs charges and border fees
Ive never had anything take that long to ship. Canada Post (and i wouldn't expect the US postal service to be much different) takes 10-12 business days, Ground shipping anywhere in the 48 states. I would expect UPS to be faster considering they charge a shit load more but i dunno. Check there website for details...might be yer best bet.
regular UPS ground shipping from Canada to the US shouldn't take anymore than 5-6 business days, Mon-Friday... The shipper should have a tracking number for you. UPS could also track using your address, and/or the shippers address, but sometimes that depends on how capable the UPS person you talk to is...

How does customs charge me? Wouldn't they charge the shipper? And i'm hoping not 4-6 weeks, but a friend of mine had to wait that long to get something from canada a while ago and he shipped a fork to a guy and it was like 3 weeks before it got there.

Knock on wood, but ups has been the best for me. I only have a problem usps because they lost an antique plate that I ordered for my mom one time. Fucking bastards left it at my apartment complex on the mailboxes where everyone walks in and it wasn't there when I came home.

With UPS you will be charged a brokerage fee, which can be quite expensive. I actually received a bill from them weeks after I had received the package, it was a really nasty surprise. USPS and Canada post may take a little longer, but after shipping and receiving dozens of packages, I've never had a bad experience.

How much was the bill? And did it have anything to do with the cost of the item or the weight? I paid 450.00 canadian total.

ya the customs charge applies to the shipper but they will send you something in the mail weeks after. I think they have a flat brokerage fee of wtv (idunno i don't use UPS) and then yes you will get charged on wtv the seller marked as the value of the good. Again not too sure on what that percentage is.
Oh and as for yer experience w/ USPS that would not be their fault. That would be the sellers fault for not marking that the package requires a signature.

I'll let you guys know if I get charged anything extra. And I kinda blame both the seller for not requiring a signature and USPS. And I'll tell you why I blame USPS too. Because they are not supposed to leave a package in an area that isn't "secure". I called and they said the driver though it was a secure area, and my argument was that how can an apartment complex with 40 units in it be considered "secure"? It's not like someone's house. The mailboxes are a high traffic area and there are people that don't give a shit if a package isn't theirs. I wish I knew who took it though, i'm still kinda pissed.....if you couldn't tell. LOL.

ya i guess yer right...i had a computer sit on my back porch all day, which i guess is "secure", but hardly. im my case it was more the sellers fault. Being the Junior detective that i am i would prolly find out who stole yer mama's plate

shipping USPS ground from america to canada takes around 10 business days, usually less..I'd assume it to be the same coming back.

I hope that's the case. I just got my new bashguard (threshold, sawblade looking one) and booster and bb. Now I just need a frame to put that shit onto.

When using either UPS or FedEx you don't want to go the ground route if you're going international. All of their express (3 day or less kind of things) have a brokerage fee built in, whereas the ground shipping nails you with potentially HUGE fees (could be $100 or more).
