I have no idea why people are switching back, but I like V-brakes because they are light, simple, easy to fix, and they work. Plus they're cheap as crap (usually).

good vee's setup costs like a good magura setup. but vee's more easy to fix, thats right.

i have ridden bikes with just a trektro (sp?) v setup, such as my bike, and i have ridden bikes with expensive v setups...they feel the same to me...cable is cable in my opinion...but of course u have to be running good shimano cables or something like that...
v brakes are easier to set up, easier to maintain, and can work just as well as maguras, thats why.

get fucked dickhead...i ask a question in the beginners thread and thats your reply...ur a fuck wit!
Well met. I'm kinda in the same place. I can get a set of hs33s for cheap, but I like my v-brakes. I haven't had to touch them for two years (besides pads of course). I love the feel of hydros, but I'm not sure its worth it.
It seems to me that the bottom line is that they are fairly equal in power and feel is the real descision maker.

why talk types of brakes when pads and grind make you REALLY stop. v's or maggies are prefrence. I can'tbleedbut I can use a 5mm hex so i ride v's
p.s. same things were said in the "how do you stop" thread a week ago, so if you dont find what u are looking for here...

What kind of housing are you running? I was getting very upset with my squishy brakes for a while, and then I started running Jagwire. Night and day difference.

I don't like to feel the cable stretch when I pull the trigger. V-brake lever blades tend to get sloppy as well. Maguras have a solid feel and have more power than any V I have experienced. Id say you could feather a vee brake better, but thats about it.

Right on.:bigthumb: I have evo mounted hs33's and they take forever to adjust. I have switched to V's now and can't wait for the riding season.

both brakes can work very well, it depends on what you like the feel of more imo.

i've run both.
vee's are lighter, easy too maintain, etc. If set up properly, they can be just as powerful as maggies.
hs33s are SUPPOSE to be more powerful. if pads aligned well, and a decent grind (or X's :) ), it'll hold. it's a pain to bleed everyso often.
felix uses vee's, and you must have seen his gap to a weird rear landing, with his vee's holding amazingly well. http://romanr.observedtrials.net/videos/cableisbetterthanoil.mpg
personal preference.

especially with 2bolt, HS33 CAN be a tad more diffcult to setup - but i've asked myself the same question over the years, "should i switch back to Vs?" and like everyone has said, they're oodles lighter, way easier to set up, and with Nokon housing (or perhaps flak jacket), the performance noticably increases. if i had the money to switch to SS and to V's i would, but SS first :D

I have both and i like them the same. My v's seem so effortless to pull but have a little mush but my hydros...well have the hydro feel. If i had to choose it would be v's with a nice setup(ultimates). Really pads and grind make up any difference between the two.
