is it better to learn on a mod or a stock bike in the beginning? keeping in mind that i attempt to do trials on my 26" norco 125 (i really need a bashring and rigid forks on it though, not to mention tyres with some form of grip).
at the moment im sure i want a mod but there is still this little voice in the back of my mind that says what about stock?

one other question...how do measure up my norco so that i know what length forks to get? im going to put some rigid forks on it soon(ish)...it has suspension on it at the moment with travel of around the 3inch mark...i dont know if that needs to be taken into consideration for the geo of the frame or anything.

i suggest a mod to learn on then once you know the basics switch to a stock...bike choice depends on your hieght aswell if you are 6'4 you need a stock but if you are 5'7 you need a mod, as for your norco, you need a very long fork that way your bb heighth drop is a minimum, the norco 125 is a 4x bike so to start off it already has a low bb with a susp fork, so what you need is a long rigid fork to compensate for the low bb.

best of luck!

I suggest learning on whatever the fuck you got lying around. Learn the basics, get involved in the sport, try different bikes of people you ride with......... Just experience trials and then you can make your own decision later as to what you want to get.

Most of the people here learnt on stock bikes that were way to big for trials, but they still learnt the basics and figured out at a certain point that they required a real trials bike to improve faster.

for the 125 get a 415 to 420mm fork. Nothing too short as they are not designed to have such a short front end.
