Hi everyone, this is my first trials bike, just finished building it about 2 weeks ago. So far, I can trackstand pretty well, and pivot about 90 degrees with the front and rear. What do you think?
I know there are some MTB parts on there (shifter/brake levers, wheels, etc...) but it's built with what I had laying around my basement. Lots of fun to ride!

wat brakes are those?

The brakes are LX, from my mountainbike. They seem to work pretty well with metal pads. Besides, I'm not putting too much strain on them, just practicing trackstands, pivots, and bunnyhops.

 flippy shifters on a trials bike.
yeah, that actually don't work too bad, you'll wanna change when you get more into it. trials really demands that levers also serve as handlebars in some sence. go to the ceramic pads and those puppies will really grab.

dude, you have no idea how similar our bikes are. dual discs, disc rims, big cog, planet x zebdi, haha.

Hey, great! Can I ask what stem length and rise you're using? My bike feels so weird right now, and I think it's the stem. It could also be that I'm a beginner to trials, and all trials bikes feel this way. I started out with a 50mm 105 degree rise downhill stem, but I rode that for about an hour before I decided it was too twitchy.
I don't know if it's the new stem that makes my bike feel wonky, or the wide bars, or if it's just that the BB is so high (I'm a mountainbiker). This thing is just so weird to ride right now.
By the way, I'm about 5'7", and a total beginner. Any stem length/rise guesses?

nice bike! on the stem issue, see if you can ride others or find something that is comfortable. When riding figure out where you think you would prefer the bar and look for stems to fit your style.

Here we have the same bike, with a lower and much longer stem... feels a little better, looks much cooler. Maybe the slightly lower center of gravity helps? Nah, that can't be it. Must be because it's black.

Except mine used to be yellow, and then gold, and then black and now its yellow, gold, black and silver. It's beautiful.:naughty:

You two are freaking me out.
I've got a buddy that lives in Portland... incredible biking out there. But what is the deal with the zoning laws out there? You'll be walking along next to an elementary school, and right next door is "HOTT SCHOOLGURLS STRIPP JOINT!!", complete with misspelled signs in front with hot pink neon. What's up with that?

Wow you have a really nice bike for a begineer. Both of the stems look a little goofy but the black one is the better looking of the two. I would check ebay to see if you could pick up a stem like the black on but shorter. Nice bike.:bigthumb:

awesome, except his bike is an alibongo :ugh:

I meant just Planet X.
But, it doesn't really matter, cuz they're similar bikes.

Scary shit? I'm not sure about that. I love them on my MTB, and that's where they came from, an older version of what I was using. I had 'em laying around in the basement, so I figured I'd use them.
I'd actually prefer rigid levers, and regular hydro brakes.
Thanks for all the compliments!

yeah, its like, the levers move. what if you change the gears by accident. I used them before, the dual control levers and i changed to deore shifters and deore levers. its better to have them separate.

Yeah, your gonna ditch those levers so fast. Youll go to pedal kick and you shift gears.... Oops I just wacked my melon on the stem!
You can probably sell those and get some regular levers and pocket some coin. The lever blades also feel a lot nicer.
